I think they are about equal as far as intelligence. Their abilities are about as equally useful as well. Although in order to beat Light you just have to take his Death Note, as he has no real powers. It would be harder to rip Lelouch's Geass eye from its socket.

I definitely think Lelouch is a faster thinker, because he is a military strategist, who is out on the actual battlefield, whilst Light is simply sitting with his notebook and being friends with L.

that would be if he suspected him to try something because if he wasn't paying attention then Lelouch would just use his powers to make him write his own name down in the notebook. Or he could just use a knightmare frame to kill him.

kira said he would never trade his eyes, because it halfnes your life spam, and he was unsure of when he was going to die, and didnt want to take a chance. besides, kira has always found a way around that anyway, im not saying hes better than lelouch but still..

Lelouch is by far smarter and has to think fast when in the field, but kira can use his notebook as many times and in any different way, making lelouch that much better b/c he gets one use per person.

Hey Unknown. Stop acting like a freaken s hole. The people who make Code Geass and Death Note make things like they are. If Kira/Light was in the world of Code Geass or Lelouch in Death Note. Remember that one has giant MECHs shooting at you from every direction and an other is well, I don't know how to explain. You have to put in the fact of all the extras too. Even if they are little.

Well, I don't think Light would know about the geass as the same as Lelouch would't know about the Death Note books. Lelouch would have the advantage if they are up front to each other. Light has the advantage of being about to just kill him once he knows Lelouch's name. Their mental abilities are very close but I wouldn't really know.

well i'm on the assumption that lelouche would figure out that Light was in custody for a while for being Kira...so lelouche would already know that he could be Kira...and so all he would have to do is use his geass on Misa to confirm it 8D

Misa wouldn't have the death note at that time. [Gave it back to REM]
No death note = no memories of it or anything having to do with it.
BTW, you're starting to make your own story..I am just going along with it.

that's hard. lelouch can kill anyone w/ his geass, while kira can kill w/ a notebook. if light had the shinigami eyes then light, but since he never did then lelouch could use geass and have light give up the notebook. now to get on topic i think both. both of them are brilliant.

Ok Kira flies a mobile suit that has emense fire power. Lelouche is able to to pilot a mecha but only has abilities to fire guns and turrets. Now if lelouche can get Kira to come out of his gundam so he can use his eye on him than thats a pure winner right there. However, I doubt that. If they fight mecha on mecha Kira will win. Other than Lelouche special ability they are both equals.

you never know lelouch i think is brilliant probably smarter than L. lelouch does plan farther ahead than light ever did. i'm sure if if lelouch ever suspected light of being kira he would test light. now light would probably figure out someone is suspecting him, but like near the final episode he falls for the trap.

Do you not remember when *SPOILER* Light gave the Death Note, thus making the memories of the book disappear in order to get close to L. Not only that, but clear his name as Kira in process without the knowledge of him being Kira. Then in the helicopter, his plan succeeds, all because he planned ahead. *SPOILER*

Look, i'm not going by who's my favorite character, just by the facts, facts are facts whether you like them or not, they can't be contradicted, and i'm not talking about weird up created scenarios where light would win.
This is called Kira vs Leleouch(mind tactics), not Kira vs Leleouch(who's your favorite) So i'm basing on what happened and what they did.
(and yes, i know i'm kinda getting too much into this, but i don't like being contradicted when i'm right)

I think Kira is best. Light is supposed to be one of the cleverest, if not the cleverest of all the Japanese high schoolers. While Lelouch is also clever, he's been beaten both in battle and in chess.
Furthermore, while Light is always a step ahead of his opponent, Lelouch is often tricked by simple enemy tactics.

*Spoiler*: For example in the 2nd Shinjuku fight when Lancelot appears, he almost lose even though he should have forseen it. It happens numerous times during the series.
Light on the other hand doesn't lose a mind game during the (anime) series. Only by a stroke of bad luck does he lose at the end.

okay okay silver has a good point and ana silver has a good point because strategist are defined by their strategies. and lights strategy ultimately failed.
and felix. while light was playing hide and seek lelouche went offensive. if light were l during the first 6 volumes he would have lost going on the offensive
in short lelouche has more balls and is a better strategist.
however. light kicks ass at hide and seek. lelouch had seemingly 100% accurate info which is unrealistic. cause with a war strategist even the slightest error will ruin you lelouche could have been doomed as l was.

say the two were playing chess. light would win. light can remain calm lelouch has freak out moments and makes mistakes during those ex. black rebellion 1.

however if they were on a battlefield lelouch would win. he is a war strategist he plays his offense well with real time tacticts while light is very defensive and is more of a face-to-face kinda guy

basically they have strong and weak points in which one would prevail.
^this all assumed without a geass or death note in use on a level playing field

uhm...I may be new at this but I defently agree with silver you have to look at the facts lelouch died on free will after accomplishing his mission of conquering and uniting the world.
Where as Kira/light died because of his sheer ignorance and overcocky attatude, But Light did kill 2 out of 3 of the main enemies, through ingenius plans that are so fair stretched the where made to follow through.
Fact is both dies, which means both should've thought it out better.
But to get back on topic of who's smarter in mind tactics I'd have to say Light because light got people to do as he say with out the geass eyes tocommand people against there will, whereas Lelouch would of been history staight from the start without the eyes to command. i say Lelouch!he is by far the best strategist in the Code Geass series..although he has his weak points with Light as his enemy the battle would be phenomenal but he would end up as the winner because if he goes into attack despite losing 80% of his army he would win..casualties don't stand in the way of the Emperors..he was trying to create a better world and he managed that by putting his life on the line..while Light was hiding his ass killing everything that breaths!:P

Lelouche probably had better mind tactics in the sense that he had to manage the whole world. Yes he did have an army behind him but he would have needed even more brainz to organise his plans. He also had a lot of things to consider from a military, political and personal viewpoint... +1 to his HR skills lol...

Kira was more of a micro manager. He tried to do everything himself but when he did let the few people around him help he was all over them. He also only had L, Near and Mello as his real opponents compared to a whole cast of characters Zero had to deal with.

I wonder who would win in a chess match between the two?
