Right, i think its a widely held belief that they were on crack when they finished that series - or rather, they would have been if they hadnt run out of money. Either way, the second shot at an ending was definately drug fuelled. But now they're doing ANOTHER one (apparently).

I for one have no idea what happened and merely looked at the pretty Evas, but will a third attempt do any favours? Or are they flogging a dead horse?

the third attempt, from what I've gathered is more based along a manga that was produced. I haven't read it, but I think it's based around the alternate reality we see at the end of the series (series, not movie). bolony pony might rings some bells (purposely spelt bologna wrong for rhymes sake:D)
don't quote me on this, cuz it hasn't been added here and I haven't been able to track down a copy of it yet, but I do know the manga was an eloboration of that one particular episode. I think it'd be good cuz I enjoyed the character development of eva, and though this sounds a little more romantic than eva, it'd still be worth checking out the character play.
And the movie makes sense, you just have to watch it a billion times, haha.

Urgh... oh the effort... lol
See, i thought id do myself favours by reading the directors noted on the platinum edition. How wrong i was. It just confused me more - i mean i get the whole Lillim one organism thing (though why would anyone go out of their way to achieve that i dont know) but so much felt unanswered. And Rei's big bisected head!

So would it be more kind of assuming Shinji's life hadnt fallen apart from a very young age? I also saw another manga where basically he knew Kaoru and Rei at school and gets caught up fighting Angels via finding some stone...

Gawd... i hate all that romantic stuff. One of the great things about Evangelion was it had such unconventional relationships, and highlighted the idiosyncracies of human interaction. But maybe they'll surprise us yet...

I haven't seen the newest attempt at the End of Eva, but I will say that I'll probably watch it, just for the simple fact that that series has me completely and totally ensnared.
I liked eva for like you have said above, the fact that the relationships between the characters weren't your typical anime I like you, you like me or vice versa relationships. It was fresh, new, and regardless of what they do with it, I'll love it all the more.

Up with EVA, down with crappy love stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK this does have me a little concerned because I am a Evangelion fan all the way. This anime was so amazing up to the ending of the series and i excepted the ending after the third time watching. The original ending was What I think amazing because it made it seem like his whole life was a test and he passed. But apparently others did not except it like me and sent threats to the creator, which led to the new ending episodes/movies. Even those new episodes/movies blew my mind away. They made me feel amazing because it was just such a good switch from what it was before. That ending was everything a anime fan should wish for. Now that apparently there is going to be another ending coming out I think that all the hardcore fans are going to watch it just because we can't get enough Evangelon. They might be making another to make all the fans happy but I don't care what they do, the series will always stand as one of the best ever to be made. But me I am happy to hear they are making another ending because I would love to see the next senario that they are put through. But even if I watch it, I can't forget about the Death and Rebirth. In my eyes this series is perfection in both sub and dub form.

The first ending lays out shinji's conquest of himself clearer than EoE did. But that's about all it did. It left everything unanswered with the exception of shinji. That's a little bogus, I'd say. EoE wraps everything up, and flips you the bird at the same time. Well shinji's conquest of self is up for debate though, I suppose. But Asuka's bloodthirsty rampage is easily the best anime fight I've ever seen.

Asuka was a genius - i love Unit 02, its probrably my fav anime Mech (aside from the Aile Strike). I cant help but be looking forward to the new ending too - when it does come out, we actually need to have some fat splurge of excitement all about it.

I must say, EofE was the only example in anime of teenaged angst that im acutally happy to deal with - however i wont be happy if the new one is just more of it.

Now, i may be an anime tradtitionalist, but with new anime techniques the fight scenes in the new one should be so amazing! Seriously, if once im done throwing up about stupid relationships, i want actually heart stopping, eye popping, squealing-with-exitement-like-a-little-child Eva fights.

If not, there will be blood.
