Alrighty people so here's the deal. My Mother is forcing me to learn a second language this year and I have no idea what program to use. After Strike posted asking about Roseta Stone awhile back, I'm not going to get that since the price is too damn high. Well, Roseta Stone was the program I was planning on getting before, so now I have no idea what I should use. So, I need you all to give me some program names, where I can find said program, and how much it costs. Your help would be great!

Naw I was able to slip through that (har har har).

@Shig, you know I would use a tutor, but I would much rather have something on my computer that I can use.

you don't necessarily need a program in order to learn a language. Try learning one yourself. There are plenty of glossaries and translation dictionaries online for you to use. You can actually learn a good bit this way. Another resource you may have never expected would be useful for learning languages is Youtube. Plenty of users have language tutorial videos on there and you can find them if you search for them. I managed to teach myself a bit of Japanese with these methods, but it can get a bit tedious. I kind of quit after I joined up on staff here, as it's a time sucker, this site is. But once you cross the threshold and learn a decent amount of words in a language, you can learn to speak it at least semi-fluent fairly easily, it will just take studying and practice. Another thing that is incredibly helpful is if you know someone who is either learning the language or already knows it to practice having conversations with. It's a bit harder to just memorize a language unless you are using it a bit.

You know Koopa that may be a good idea, just find them online. So, thank you for that information and thank you Shig and of course Spirit for your helps. :3

Hahaha nice going MOM! Now we are in the same situation hehe >=) My mother forced me to learn Chinese. Since I'm Chinese from origin, she thought it would be nothing but common sense for me to learn how to write and read chinese characters. (Can already speak, HAHA not a total loser!) But maaaaaan, thats hard O_O (I'm born in China, but raised in Holland. I speak chinese at home but Dutch in public.) And I'm like 20 years old T_T not THAT young anymore. My brains are already giving up on me :P

So good luck with it :P I feel your pain.

Fools, you don't learn a language. You live it.

Go live in the place you want to learn the native language. If it's Japanese then go to Japan. If you want to learn Spanish you can go to Mexico, almost any nation in Central America and South America. You get the point. It's much easier this way cause then you have no choice but the learn the language.

Yeah that's a thought, but I have neither the money nor the time to travel to said places.

You know the best thing to do is to find someone that speaks that language and get them to teach you it. That's how i'm learning Japanese. Or you can teach yourself with a free program online.

Technically Ryu you still might be able to get that program if you get it of Utorrent. I will look tonight when I get home for you and let you know tomorrow if you can get it on a torrent and download it or if I can get it on my military websight and send you a copy of the disk
