Now, just take a moment and look at this picture. Think for a second on who it is. Keep thinking... Okay, who is it?
For those of you too lazy to click, the person showed is Crono, the main character of Chrono Trigger. He looks pretty different, right? That's because an announcment has been confirmed, Chrono Trigger is coming to the DS.
Though it's not a sequel (As I've said the game needs one in several other threads) it is getting an update. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168511 Better graphics, Stylus control, online play, and a new dungeon, it could show people today how the SNES gamers did RPG's, and for their own good.
So, is this a sign that a sequel could come in the future? Are you glad that an update is coming for the game? Or do you prefer the purist route and say the game should have stayed untouched?

Well. since I have never played Chrono Trigger I have no idea who your talking about or what he used to look like. But, it's a new game and I'm willing to try it out.

It's not a new game actually. Chrono Trigger was previously released on the SNES, and is known as one of the best RPG titles of all time, especially considering it's competition, the exceeding popular Final Fantasy. Ironically enough, Chrono Trigger is made by the same company.

*Cough* Chrono Trigger was first *Cough*
Besides that, I said that it was ONE of the greatest RPG's of all time. Besides that, diablo is a hard game, one that has little chance of victory unless you absolutly know what you are doing.

It was released 3 year's before diablo indeed, but that proves nothing..i haven't played CT so i can't tell if it's good or not,but one game remained as the king of RPG's

Anyhow i would have to disagree on diablo being hard..Indeed it had different difficulties like Hell ..which was rather hard, but playing the game on normal was rather easy.. i remember reaching the end when i was 6 and by that time i didn't even know english.Yeah took me couple of months to complete..and yeah i died a sh*t load of times but i managed to complete it.

First off, unless you can read a book a week, you'll always have more New York Times best selling books.
Second, it's hard. It also scared me as a kid since I only put it in once and it was really late night. I didn't touch it again until I was maybe 14.
Third, Diablo is a good game. But, test of time or not, Chrono Trigger has a very devote following. Blizzard has made an expansion to the first, plus a sequal and expansion to that game, and now even a third game for Diablo. Chrono Trigger has just one game in its story, Chrono Cross, which most people rejected as the true sequel. So, many, many more gamers who played this have hungered for a new game since.

Chrono Trigger has had a pseudo-sequel for years, Chrono Cross, But a true sequel to it would be nice. Also, Chrono Trigger beats Diablo.

Seriously, Chrono Trigger wins hands down, no contest, besides is Diablo really something you could call an RPG? It seems more action/adventure to me even though they tried to format it like an RPG.

First Diablo didn't have an expansion, only second diablo did.And yes now their's an diablo iii announced which is gonna be awesome
And i'm not judging diablo by my personal experience with it,i'm judging it by the rewards it has taken.

Actually the first Diablo did have an expansion pack, it was called Hellfire, it added the monk class and a ton of new quests including the cow level, also, I wonder why Nintendo is suddenly porting Chrono Trigger after Sony already did that on the PS1? Does this mean they are trying to drum up some new support for the game in anticipation of making a new one?

Wasn't made by Blizzard so i wouldn't call it official
Whatever they do with CT i hope it has better graphics than those of the picture.

Yes I would Triples. Here is a quote from Wikipedia:
"Chrono Trigger has recently placed highly on all five of multimedia website IGN's "top 100 games of all time" lists—4th in 2002, 6th in early 2005, 13th in late 2005, 2nd in 2006, and 18th in 2007.[65][66] GameSpot included Chrono Trigger in "The Greatest Games of All Time" list released in April 2006, and it also appeared as 28th on an "All Time Top 100" list in a poll conducted by Japanese magazine Famitsu.[67][68] In 2004, Chrono Trigger finished runner up to Final Fantasy VII in the inaugural GameFAQs video game battle. In 2008, readers of Dengeki Online voted it the eighth best game ever made.[69]"
On top of that, it was made by Squaresoft (The name before merging with Enix) Plus, if you look here http://www.gamestats.com/objects/006/006858/ You see that it is a very popular game.
When I was younger I read about this game and actually found out a working SNES cartidge of the game is worth about $100 U.S.

I wasn't talking about Chrono Trigger it's self, I was talking about it coming to the DS therefor it being a new game.

Actually it's a remake, so it's not really a sequel or a new game.
And shigami, this thread is about Chrono Trigger, not Baldur's Gate, not Diablo, and not anything else you can think of unless it furthers the discussion directly related to this game.

I was hoping they'd come out with a portable port of Chrono Trigger for some time, I was hoping with Square re-releasing all the Final Fantasy games on GBA, as well as other old RPG's like Tales of Phantasia coming to GBA, that Chrono Trigger would soon follow. And we had to wait a while, but they finally did it, bringing it onto DS.
Now if we can just convince Nintendo to release the three Mother games in America for DS as well...

It's a new game if it is out or just about to come out. :serious:

There seems to be alot of fans that are happy about the the new Chrono Trigger. Is it really that good? I might have to purchase a copy from Ebay.

A very good game. I wouldn't recommend getting the cartridge version though unless you have plenty of money to spend. Otherwise, wait for the DS release or get Final Fantasy Chronicals, which comes with Final Fantasy (called II in the US, IV in Japan. They are the same game) and Chrono Trigger.

I love Chrono Trigger! It will be pretty cool to see it now with the new technology we have nowadays. I played it on the SNES when I was younger, don't think the cartridge still works though.

might be better to just get the DS or the PSone version, unless you are willing to shell out upwards of $60 to get a SNES cartridge.

I still have the SNES cartridge for CT as well as the PS1 version, I love playing both, but I am looking forward to what graphical changes were made in the DS version, if it's just going to be a few animated cut scenes like the ps1 version did, or if it's going to be a lot more.
**As for the Diablo expansion Hellfire, true, Blizzard did not release it as a first party expansion, but it was a legitimate expansion to the game since it was authorized, basically you thought there was no expansion, there was, you wrong, me right, suck it.

MGS: Twin Snakes is selling for £65 on Ebay. I don't know why...
Edit: I'm going to try hunt down a cheap version of Chrono Trigger. I'll try find one that is missing it's box or manual etc. It'd be cheaper.

Ha I bought The Twin Snakes brand new for $20 a few years ago. I actually saw the Chrono Trigger SNES cart at a flea market for $50, which was the cheapest I think one would ever find it. But I have the PS1 version so I am not overly concerned about getting the SNES version anyways. The only hard to find SNES game I think I have is Super Mario RPG.
