That's right, the series that's been beaten like a dead horse since the end of it's ps1 titles with it's ongoing series Battle Network, the new direction of MegamanX, and the continuation of Megaman Zero, is getting one more game from the series that started it all.

The game is going to be downloadable from Nintendo's Wiiware service, meaning it will likely be a game cheaper than a full fledged game. But still, a return to the original. No hidden upgrades, no ultra attacks, just the classic blue bomber.

If you remember, I mentioned megaman in a thread "Give it a rest developers!" and how megaman has had so many games that it needs a total revamping. But a return to the classic? So what do you think, should Megaman have one more shot with the games that made him famous?

I was never into Megaman, plus you're right they need to give it a rest.

True after the first few it got boring since it was pretty much the same bull every time

I liked the Megaman X games, I think they actually kept making them for PS2, the originals were pretty good, but it did get repetitive after a while. 8 robots (sometimes more) are on the loose, go through their levels, defeat them, get their weapon, find the robot weak against it, go through their level, beat them, get their weapon, repeat until all 8 bots are dead and then fight Dr. Wily. The same thing over and over.

There's also a rumor about this game that you'll be able to play as different charcters though the adventure, which has only happend in the megaman arcade games (Ones that you'll have only played if you've gotten Megaman Aniversery Collection on gamecube or ps2)

I'm guessing no one is willing to give him another chance.

Not really. Those games died when they ruined it. I enjoyed the older ones, but since they made those newer ones, it just kind of lost it's touch.

Have you ever played the Megaman Legends games? The man who created Megaman said that he always wanted to make Megaman Legends Three.

I really dont think i can handle another mega man game. It i getting old playing almost the same game over and over. Mega man isn't even that fun and most of them made are terrible.

Trust me, Legends is the most unique.

I'm a HUGE Megaman Fan and have loved the series since I was 3 so I'm REALLY exited about this! I wish Megaman Legends 3 would come out, I've been waiting for five years and I'm tired of waiting, lol.

Also, they have made way to many Megaman game but I really like Classic, X, Legends, Battle Network, and Starforce! I know the Battle Network Series has ended, and is the only one that actually says THE END, but I'm glad they made Starforce. I'll eventually have every Megaman PET and game. I'm a freak so I know I'll eventually buy them all.

Megaman 3D?

In any case, if they could just fix the series I'm sure that Megaman could come back in full glory. The issue is that he's now a Card game, a side scroller hack-and-slash-and-shoot, a partially 3D (See previous), a third person shooter, a side scrolling shooter, a racer, and a re-occuring fighter. He's been in quite a bit, so it'd be difficult to find him a new calling, or to fix what has already come around.

As for the future, I think he would be unsuited to a first person shooter. Maybe they could make him an action adventure shooter like you would see in the Megaman Cartoon 18 years ago.

You forgot that he's also a 2D RPG, Battle Network, 3D RPG, Megaman X: Command Misson, and a 2D/3D RPG, Megaman Starforce. XD

Technically he's not an rpg since he does not actually level up in any of those games, except for possibly Command Mission, as I don't know anything about it other than it's turn based.

I've never played ONE MegaMan game. Unless....Dead Rising counts...

quietchat

You might as well count it as two megaman games if you're gonna go with Dead Rising, considering the X/Zero gear and the Tron bot heads of Megaman Legends that you can stick on zombies.

Good lord why is there another one coming out. Didn't they have enough of it??

Apparently not. I think one of the reasons for Megaman's recent downfall is that the creator isn't the lead director for the games anymore. But, I'm not sure if this is right or wrong.

Well, on IGN and Amazon it says that Megaman Battle Network and Megaman Starforce an RPG, you don't have to level for it to be an RPG, and after playing it I knew it was an RPG. Megaman X: Command Mission was a Turn-Based RPG that was and is really cool. It's very unique and different from the rest of the Megaman Series.

lol, you guys are silly.

Megaman X was my favorite game as kid. I remember going over to my friends house every weekend and after school as much as possible to play it. I don't think they should make new games though, I remember one 3rd person shooter Megaman on some console and I thought it was lame. After I played that I took a long break from the series and haven't played since.

Megaman will never die, whether we like it or not. As long as you can find a random Japanese person walking on the streets and Tokyo and challenge them to a Megaman PET Battle the games will keep coming.

You're talking about Megaman Legends 1 and 2 on the Ps1, and I absolutly love those games.

They were okay I guess, just not the same as the older ones? I didn't enjoy it, not trying to say they failed or whatever, just that they're not my thing. I know that a sidescrolling Megaman game is not going to be made.. sad but true.

Yeah, the need to have a Megaman Legends 3 come out. Apparently there are people in Capcom that want to make a third, but there aren't enough to make it happen...

It'll eventually come out...

This is just about the best thing that that can happen to the series imo, and I'm definitely looking forward to this more than any other game right now...although I don't think this will really attract a lot of "new" gamers who play halo,it's very comforting to know that Capcom still reaches out to the hardcore retro games out there. (also, this is the first megaman w/ a female master robot in the line-up,so they're breaking new ground as well)

I wonder why with all the Megaman games they've made, why they haven't made a Megaman fighting game whith all the characters they have.

And whatever happened to bass? he just dissapeared with protoman and roll.
