Okay, now I imagine that most people would rather play the game instead of on a videogame. But, there's another reason; sports, games, suck. EA Games has a monopoly on football games, as the first reason. Second off, it's freaking sports. Unless you start introducing rockets in my baseball game so that I can knock a person into the stratosphere, your MLB 5294 is gonna be the same as MLB 200. Does anyone else think that sports games just need to completely die? And I mean die, for good. I'm just targeting this one franchise of gaming, so it's somewhat related to the other thread "Give it a rest already Developers!" because I got the idea from that to target just this one genre.

Yes of course! They're pointless! They were developed by huge Jaba The Hut people who can't play sports. I would much rather go out and play sports then sit around staring at a screen playing the sport on a video game. Also, most of the mechanics of the game are messed up. Some of the stuff you can't do in reality and others you can do them in the real world, but can't in the game.

What about how rediculous some of the titles are? One of the selling points of a football game several years ago, was that you would have a team composed of all guys in mascot costumes. Plus, you have these weird little spins like Backyard Sports titles.

I think there was another title where it was supposed to be underground, illegal football. You didn't even do that much in actual stradegy, you just charged through everyone and did a goosestep to taunt them on the way to the end zone. Plus you were allowed to jump over players and off walls and other stuff.

There was another game as well where you managed the team, and that included giving them roids.

I say the realistic sports games should go, because I love Mario Tennis and the fantasy type sports games.

Sad thing is that people will still buy those games, despite the lack of quality. It's gotten so bad that people are petitioning to end the monopoly.

The title of this thread reminds me of the so called "Madden Curse" where every football player that has appeared on the cover of a Madden game has suffered an injury later on that prevents them from playing that season.

im in agreement with all. realistic sport games come out with a new one each year... but with what difference? a waste of time and cash. get rid of them. now on the flip side, fantasy sports and games like Mario Tennis, those are great, because they're different than real sports.

Then again you'll start getting the weird fantasy titles like space football or somthing.
