Well,i just saw this movie called 'Cloverfield' lately, and it really amazed me,it's unique due to a 'new' technique called "Shaky camerawork",it's been done before but not quite like this..After you read the plot, you can comment back with you're own opinion about this movie or another movie you think it's worth watching.

~Cloverfield is a 2008 monster/horror film directed by Matt Reeves, produced by J. J. Abrams and written by Drew Goddard. The film is presented as a video file recovered from a digital hand-held camera by the United States Department of Defense. At the start of the film, it is stated the camera was "found in US-447, area formerly known as Central Park". The main record of events is interspersed with footage shot on a personal hand-held camera used by various characters prior to the crisis.

Here's the 1th trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWlLltsYX8E

Here's the 2th trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyK7lJCaomc

And here's an icon http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/gallery/701/cloverfield_poster.jpg

I give this movie a 9,9/10 and place it in my personal favorites.

Oh, I saw that clip on T.V. When I first saw it I thought it was the news. 'cause..you know...everything was shot using a handheld camera. Truly amazing stuff...^^

well thats all good and fine, but i cant stand watching movies like that. nothings wrong wiht it, i just cant stand it. a movie no one should see is The Happening. i thought its plot was stupid and it was just random suicides. now, if you like that stuff, be my guest... but leave me out.

I only wanted to see what the monster looked like, but I couldn't even figure that one out. My parents kept thinking Godzilla for some reason, then I kept teling them that if it was Godzilla, they'd advertise it as freaking Godzilla!

Haha! Now we are totally off topic. Anyway, is it a sci-fi with scary monsters or is it like...The Day After Tomorrow? ^^ (Cloverfield that is).

Won't post a picture because don't want to spoil it for someone who actually wants to see it..But no it's not godzilla..it's an alien-form,never seen before in a movie..at least not that big.

This movie was pretty good. I thought the handheld camera thing was gonna annoy me too, but it wasn't that bad, it made it intense and gave in that "what's going on" feeling when it was needed (cuz let's face it, when you're being attacked by creatures you're not trying to get a beautiful pic with good detail...your trying to kill it's ass/get the hell out of there). I found the dude holding the camera way more irritating. I also thought it was gonna be that deal where you don't get to fully see the monster, and you'd have to use your imagination, but it got some good camera time. Monster movies of late have been good about that I think. Check out a movie called "THE HOST". It's korean, but got some good north american play. It's great. no bulling around, not mystery, just a well made CG monster running around eating people and a good story to go along with it. Totally worth checking out.
But back to cloverfield, despite some of the wierd questions left unanswered, like why some big creature all of a sudden appears out of nowhere (did they even say it's an alien? they just gave a bunch of speculation to it's origin) and the girl blowing up, what's that all about? It's a good movie. a much better shaky camera movie then the blair witch project.

No,they actually didn't say it was an alien since it's origin was unknown to begin with. But it certainly looks like one,and about you're question..Where did godzilla come from? It was much bigger from what i remember and also..Is that sea really that deep? I'm from greece, never been to New York so i wouldn't know..Yeah i'll check the host tomorrow,i'll let you know as soon as i have.

Cloverfield was a crap fest in my opinion, I wanted to know more about the monster and stopped caring for the annoying people running around yelling scared dialog every minute.

ya, it was a bit retarded that the monster was more of a metaphore, but monsters are there for senseless violence, not philosophical insight.

Cloverfield in my opinion was a pretty good movie. I mean the special effects were cool, and shit surprised you every other minute. The camera work was shoddy, but it gave the movie a more intense point of view. Hell there was even a funny part to that movie, which is useless in a horror, but thats ok.

It was supposed to be realistic. The monster just attacked the city,no one knew anything about it,if you expected to see human's coming from the future to warn them about the monster's then i think that's just you're problem

Not so much that as I expected the army to know more about the monster, and through them we could have learned more.

Learn more from who?
The point of view of the movie was taken by a camera hold by a normal citizen and he's friends..They strugle to survive,i doupt they were thinking anything but that..

The general at the base. I was hoping they could at least overhear some information about the monster.

My final point being I wanted to know more about the monster, and I stopped caring for the people.

ya, it's not as if the army had been studying it. they were doing everything in their power to shoot and kill it. shoot first ask questions later...after everyone's dead.

Seen it, I liked "The Mist" better. The ending was EPIC.
