This is a thread specifically to get an idea of what everyone feels is needed in the next version of the army game, not every idea may be feasible and not every feasible idea may be added, but this way we can see what everyone thinks is missing or necessary to the success of this project.
To start, I was thinking about the new army protection that was talked about, but since a few ppl were against the idea as they want to get straight into the meat of the game I had a compromise. How about making it optional, if you don't want to use it, you can jump straight in and start attacking and defending against anyone else who chose not to use the protection or who is already out of the protection period, say 48-72hrs long, during which you can spend your money and recruit new troops but you can not attack or be attacked. Or a Vacation mode, for those ppl that won't be able to be on for a few days can enter to prevent their army from being farmed the entire time they are away. The Vacation Mode would be set for 1 day(24hrs) to 7 days, during which time you will not be able to access your army, you wouldn't be able to click your own recruitment link, although others would be able to, you wouldn't be able to spend your money, attack, and no one would be able to attack you until your Vacation period had ended, to prevent the abuse of this potential feature, once you have used Vacation Mode no matter if for 1 day or the full 7, the feature would be unavailable again for a full 7 days afterwards, that way you could not continue putting your army into the protection of Vacation mode to build funds repeatedly w/o fear of being attacked. Much like the Protection mode option would only be available at the beginning of a new armies creation. I think that's the whole concept, but I may have missed one or two things in there. Let me know what you all think and also what ideas you might have to make the game better, and keep in mind that just b/c your idea does not make it into the next version it may be on the way.

i like the ideas cor, but the pms need to be addressed, i think that the pming messages to your inbox should be altered to post directly to your army's page, this way no matter what if a person doesnt put their armies in vacation mode or is not in protection, then they can be attacked.
ANY "cheating" should be investigated and if found to be actual, that army deleted.
instead of making alliance in a social group....i believe having a treaty or team feature would be wise. that way you cant attack your team.
And classes applied. For instance an army of 100+ soldiers is a class "d" army, an army of 150+ soldiers class "c" and 200+ class "b" and 250+ soldiers class "A". thats just an idea but it prevents the farming of lower class armies, also up the attack limit per day to say 10 or 15. i dont know but these are just some ideas.

Well first, as I've said before and I guess it needs to be said now and in here, the PM feature has already been addressed and is scheduled to be removed in the next version as we very quickly realized what a problem it was, as for the class idea, I think it's a nice idea, that probably will be implemented sooner or later, although maybe not in time for the next version, the question is whether it will be based on army size, or some networth associated w/ each army/land's growth. As for the treaty/alliance idea, I know what you mean, as there is something very similar in Earth 2025, another txt turn based military game, and like that I believe the number of treaty/alliances you can propose or accept at any given time should be limited to prevent large alliances from dominating the game, such as the Shadow-san alliance which has grown a good bit since the start of this round. As for cheating yes you are right, and that issue has already been addressed as I've stated in the chatbox, the offenders were chewed out nicely, and in some cases had stats reduced to a more appropriate level although regurgitating the same problem over and over may not be the most constructive use of this thread, especially since for all intents and purposes we are still in the testing stages and it's intent is to weed out problems like that, but the point is made. As for more times to attack per day, what exactly do you mean, as with the current setup you only really need to use 1 turn to attack someone since the formula's governing gain have not been worked out completely? Or are you saying that the cycles need to occur more frequently?

i mean as far as attacks go, in example, i had to wait full day before i could attack almost anyone due to the 5 times attack limit. maybe have it reset every 3- rounds but limiting the amount of times to attack someone is good but such a low number isn't.
also, i think your right about ranks, instead of army size i think, in hindsight, that it should be based upon power.

i think that there should be landmass control and stuff like starting new colonies empty spaces increase pop cap for like farm room so something like
claim empty land>

civilians would pay taxes
but then it would be hard to make that txted based

I see what you mean Shadow, and yes, while it wasn't fair for some ppl to profit from one person artificially inflating their stats, at the same time you can't expect them to delete the army if they were already doing well prior to that, and Fox did the best he could returning them to a more normal lvl by reducing the number of purchased offensive and defensive upgrades to a more believable lvl, he couldn't help it if someone had a ton of money hidden by buying rocks and linen shirts, or if they had upgraded to the best equipment, b/c he would have no way of knowing exactly how much money they had gained prior to this and spent in which ways.
As for your idea Sparkrose, I get where you're going, and it is possible in a txt based game, in fact they have something almost exactly like that in the txt based game Utopia, you can send soldiers out to find and colonize new land, which increases the acreage you control, stimulating population growth by encouraging new peasants to immigrate which in turn gains you more soldiers b/c of your preset conscription rate, and of course the more peasants coming in stimulates the economy producing more money so you can afford different buildings, training of soldiers to become specialized troops, food, and other supplies.

ok so ive played utopia for a day and my assessment is
its boring
i love the random attacks that come out of nowhere and instantly warn me
i love it that the army game is only a side thing for the forum
i love waiting for a day to get a 100 points and attacking people by using 1 until i get through the whole list
i love it how it is dont change the main points!!!!!!!!
this is way more better if utopia had a forum id be more satisfied

Well first, in order to really make any gain off someone the setup currently where you can use one turn to attack each person will be fixed, so that you have to use more turns to make an effective gain, also if you are referring to the pm's stating that you have been attacked, those are going away too as they turned out to be more trouble than they were worth, and what do you mean by main points? oh and utopia does have a forum.

I was thinking about having a system that just lets you attack multiple people at random. You would type in how many rounds you are willing to use, how many rounds per person to use, and the system would indiscriminatly pick people with the list and jump them.

I could actually see that as being kind of fun, but also a waste of turns, b/c you never know if you're going to only end up hitting armies stronger than yours and ppl w/ no money left, but it would be an interesting feature, or maybe a filter for the player list, so you can designate by size of the army, and if we add a ranking/networth feature, by that as well, so that instead of going through 10-20 pages of player trying to attack someone, you can get a shorter list of all ppl w/ 135 soldiers for instance, or a rank/networth close to your own, so that you know who to attack

what about Items and stuff? Like power up items that increase ur attack/def for a day...or like an item that switches ur def and attack for a day....meh..im thinkin of yugioh cards now lol.

stuff that increases stats for a day.... that would be like mercs right?
oh and i think you should be able to team up with another army and atacck at the same time with combined attack stats and the only to stand up to that would be .... defensive alliances of course to make it more realistic allies defence only adds 3/4ths to yours

How about a levelable army, depending on how strong an opponent is, if you defeat them you gain a certain number of experience depending if they have a lot of defense or little defense. Then your army will gain more Attack and Defense Power from their level and you can only attack people in a certain level range. Like Level 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc.
Also, not that I'm complaining about this, but how about we can only steal a certain amount of gold, I attacked Jetro and got 33798 Gold and that just seems like too much for one attack.

just an idea, but i think it would be cool if you could give equipment, gold, troops... to other armies. in otherwords, gifts, trades, etc...

Yeah, then people won't be using the PM Glitch anymore. Or the people that don't even play and the have hundreds of thousands of gold since they got attacked too many times.
