Alright, this may bring but heart-string-tugging memories, but I thought it might be interesting. I'm basically asking what anime made you cry and what event did that. Can also be on the verge of crying, too.
For me, it was Full Metal Alchemist when Hughes died. I really liked him (dispite him constantly showing off how cute his daughter was), but what really got me was his daughter crying at his funeral. Her saying "Why are they burying daddy? He has to finish his work!" just..... *sob* It was really sad....

Aw man I couldn't stand that part, it was too sad =[ Hughes was awesome and I'm mad that they killed him off, and the way he died made it worse =[ But that would be mine as well.

:The anime that has made my heart fall apart is Kanon. The way makotto disappeard and Ayu is heart breaking. Especially knowing that Ayu has been apart of the entire series except for the last episode in Vol 5pissed::mad::eyes::crying:

Elfen Lied and Saikano. Elfen Lied really had me all emotional all the way through, I couldn't believe myself. Saikano really got to me in one episode in particular, episode 9... really sad...
Shigami
06-20-2008, 03:04 PM
Well couldnt really cry but my 'emotion' part's are from the following anime's.
Elfen lied - Propably the way it ended.
One piece - When Their ship,Merry died, and the spirit talked to them.
Kanon - A lot of part's here actually,But Most of them are about Makotto.
And although that's a anime-movie,Grave of the fireflies..

I almost cried when Dante 'died' in DMC the anime. But was jumping out of my chair when he came back to life and totally destroyed the boss!!! Another one was Spike from Cowboy Bebop in the final episode. That was definitely unwarranted for. I was hoping for a sequel. And if you ever saw Trinity Blood, it was when Cain killed Abel. But then he came back 100% Rosencruz Vampire mode!!!

No word on if Spike died or not at the end ^^

many verge of moments. another part of FMA was nina, that was heart wrenching what happened to her. grave of the fireflies, as shigami mentioned, made me feel so depressed that I couldn't even squeeze out a tear if I tried. a lot of the mushishi episodes had me at the cusp but then they turn it around. That show screwed around with my emotions a bit.
And one that wasn't really a cry feeling, but you feel your gut in your mouth would be the end of episode 3 of FLCL. It's a sort of happy sad moment. plus the series, cuz it's sad that haruko leaves.

well all of these are on the verge of crying or single tears
shuffle when he commits suacide(it showed his love for her)
somewhere in shana( i forgot)
when she dies in full moon (i thought she did)
the ending to elfin lied (scaryist anime ever)
those parts in de capo both one and 2
haruhi i didnt want the series to end
lucky star from laughter laughter
Zero no Tsukaima Futatsuki no Kishi (when hes left behind and dies)
lol that last one reminds me (elf with big boobs ^.^)
it happens alot in romance comedy style
but the only thing not real real ive cried for is the last samurai :P

I think all good animes should make you cry at one point - doesn't that mean you've grown attached to the characters and the story to the point where their pain and troubles affect you?
So I've cried for a lot of animes but I remember when I was watching NANA that I was crying like every other episode ... it's just a sad story. But still good!! haha

06-21-2008, 03:02 AM
you are so right seraphim
i lost it when hughes died. it seems overly dramatic i know, but i was in a funk for the next three days after. i think part of it was the fact that it was just so sudden you know?
and i didnt cry but i was pretty upset when L died in death note. he was my fav
If I had to pick one ( and there are many) I would said Fushugi Yuugi made me cry the most, espically when they kill Tamahome's family.:oo:
There is quiet a few sad endings but if i should pick one it must be Crono Crusade the ending made me mad and sad.

Its true some sad stuff happens in that anime i mean Hughes was the most bomb character in that show. Well best non alchemist character anyway. Also Nina dying sucked i mean she had the cutest little voice when it was subbed.
I cry at the end of alot of animes though because i know it ended and might never come back.

if anyone has read the Ichigo 100% manga..... which is 100x better than the anime....it made me cry twice :( once when junpei's g/f leaves for france, and the 2nd time when right at the end...there are those newbies who go to the video room and see the picture of the video club members.....which was taken like "5 years ago" . it felt so nostalgic
SinXxX
06-22-2008, 08:19 PM
You know what, Ichigo 100% was good until the ending. It made me sad when Junpei and Toujo did not end together that I really do not want to read it again. That scene when he was thinking about Toujo (when he received her novel) was sad.

wow, 'Like' all the ones mentioned made me cry too. XD
Naruto.
They were doing a bit on Garra's childhood. He was like giving this ball back to these kids and they all ran away from him. There was more, but it is kinda blurry...but I remember it made me cry a lot.
Aazumanga daioh.
The ending episode where they are all graduating from high school. It made me think of my graduation and stuff..and chiyo's eyes made me think it was sadder then it was. So I was totally crying at that episode.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. That, and Nina's death. I swear, the minute Ed started crying, I was in tears. Most anime mourning seems so forced (if you know what I mean) but the fact that Ed plain out bawled, and the fact that Nina had been so innocent and unknowing, made it all the more sad. Kind of strange that it was also my second favorite episode. O.o

i just started to watch it but Zero no Tsukaima made me cry. i mean when Saito chose that loud mouth, flat chested, pink haired, loser over Siesta that was it right there. It ruined the whole anime for me, i mean i'm still gonna finish it because its a good anime, but still thats where it went too far. I mean really everyone is better than Louise, even that hooker Kirche.

I think the worst part about nina was when you knew what had happened but didn't much want to believe it, but she started talking in the dog/adorable little girl voice that sounded sooo sad. gotta get up and get a drink or something, can't handle it.

Yup, the scene of Going Merry's Viking Funeral is really sad...
Flashbacks of the ship, from beginning until now, had gained a lot of experiences and adventures- together with Mugiwara's Crew... Plus with the bgm, it brings out the sadness of the scene...
And, Grave of the Fireflies from Studio Ghibli, is also a sad anime movie... The sadness is very deep... making me almost want to cry...

OK, the four I can think of off the bat:
1. FMA - I agree, Hughes' death and funeral was a definite tear-jerker.
2. RomeoxJuliet - I mean, I've studied the play in school and knew it'd be a tragedy, but my goodness that did not prepare me for the end at all
3. Air - the entire story (yes, it has comedic parts to it as well, but it's just sad)
4. Full Moon wo Sagashite - like AyumiBee said, finding out Eichi was dead and protecting her all that time...so sad, yet so sweet.

There's a few for me. The most recent was in Wolf's Rain, when Toboe died, and Tsume was telling him the story of how he got his scar, then the part where Hige asks Tsume to kill him, and finally when Tsume, and Kiba die. Sheeez, the last two episodes were f'n horriyingly depressing, character after character died, one by one, it was un-real.
Also i shed a tear in Dragon Ball Z, when Goku told Chi-Chi, Bulma, and Videl that Fat Ass Buu killed Gohan, and Vegeta, but only the dubbed version cause Bruce Faulconer's music in that make sit phenominal.
Also Cowboy Bebop, when Spike "dies" as mentioned, and they play that song "Blue" that was to depressing.
Another is Gungrave, when Harry tells Brandon that he basically wants to kill Big Daddy, and Brandon is about to shoot him, but couldn't bring himself to do it, then Harry shoots him right off the elevator, in a blaze of not glory. That sucked, cause they were such great friends, i never expected it to take that kind of turn.
FullMetal Alchemist, as mentioned a few times, when Hughes died, that sucked so much, i had to take a shower after it, so it looked like i had water on my face and not tears in my eyes.
Rurouni Kenshin, when the Oni Waban Group dies in front up Aoshi. That sucked big hairy testy's. To depressing.
The list can go on and on. Now don't let me wrong, im not a cry baby, im a man baby !! Anime just gets to me sometimes, i get to wrapped around it.

One Piece, when Sanji leaves the Baratie. Like.. he was always rude with everyone, calling them bastards and all, but when Zeff told him something like "Don't catch cold" he thought about all the things he had done for him, that he kinda had a 'father/son' relationship with him, and started to cry. To see these two strong men crying like that almost made me cry a bit as well.

Planetes managed to get tears out of me by THE THIRD episode.
The Anime that made me cry was in Kodomo no Jikan. When Rin was very young, she loved her mother so much. When she was feeling sick, she went to the hospital and the doctors told her that she had Lung Cancer. She was very pale and she started to lose hair. She was resting on the bed while Rin on the other hand was making origami to make her feel better. When her uncle came back, he saw a note on Rin's mother's hand saying, "I'm sorry for dying." It was just so sad.

Just finished watching DNAngel. Ohmigod, last three episodes SO SAD...well, 26 has a lot of action in it, but 24 had me crying and 25 pulled a couple tears out, too. 26 made my eyes water. But really, episode 24 was the saddest with the end of the second hand of time and Freedert and Eliot...and Daisuke screaming at Dark to let him go and Freedert's last words to Daisuke. Gah! My eyes are tearing up again.

i just finished watching the anime including the ova's and special episodes... all in one sitting... i'm definitely reading this manga next... its funny but i felt i learnt a lot from this anime lol
also another sad anime is honey and clover, so many sad moments... well u get that with a tonne of love triangles between all the characters anyway... someone's gonna be hurt =(
one of the most moving ones that i watched was voices from a distant star.. the fact that each email they send kept taking longer and longer as she was travelling further away from earth did my head in every now and then when i think back on it...

Aw man I'd say pretty much every episode of Casshern: Sins. Its the most depressing series I've ever seen but I loved the 70's cartoon so I have to watch it!
Then there's the Cowboy Bebop ending, the Gungrave ending even though I don't count it because its based on my favorite game where he doesn't die at all! Then the king of kings Saikano I can't even think about that one. :dizzy:

Just reading the posts makes me wanna cry... T.T
In Kaze no Stigma, when Ayumi died in Ren's arms, all of a sudden I started crying non stop. To make matters worse, I was in my friends room and I ended up asking for tissue to wipe my tears away. How embarassing!
There are still other animes that made me cry. Usually the endings of the anime or the deaths of a good character.

Well i havn't seen that much anime but one anime i think was really sad was Fat/stay night.

Indeed the anime ending was really sad, to the point of making me play the entire game and found a lot better endings than the one they put in the anime(*the game is an eroge, and has 5 different endings). I also learned alot about really interesting stuff/info about the entire title.
@topic: I think i've posted bout it, but yea Code Geass R2 ending really made me cry like hell, and even made me cry after repeating the same episode four times, and still makes my eye teary the 5th time i repeated it.

Chrono Crusade comes to mind right away. The ending really pissed me off and made me sad. And Code Geass, when Shirley died. Definitely sad.
Hmm.. also the Christmas episodes of Ghost Hunt. That little boy getting stuck up on the roof and dying there was really really sad.
Escaflowne is also another one. The ending upset me, with the both of them going their separate ways.

I've cried through cried a many animes, but the two that I cried the most on was. Fushigi Yuugi, and Nabari no ou.
Fushigi Yuugi:
When Nuriko, and Hotohori both died. I cant say whom, I cried over the most but its pretty close to Hotohori since he was my favorite character.
Nabari no ou:
At the very last episode, the credits I think when Yoite died/disappeared it was so sad, I remember bawling for nearly ten mins.
