Since I've made a thread about games that need sequels, now comes when a game has been beaten to near death to pump out another game, for example our good friend Megaman, who now trudges with two other character in games that feel sluggish, play in 3-d and just cause a headache, curtesy of the X series. What about the Battle Network series?
What games are just way too far gone and need a rest? What needs to be killed off while they can still be remembered as classics of the ages? Or what games that are in development should just be scrapped right now?

Halo I agree with (Though they aren't planninga Halo 4. The next thing is an RTS)
Dynasty Warriors I agree with.
Mario, not so much. Every game re-invents itself from the previous one in some way. We went from the normal goomba hopping to pulling veggies, to relying on a new host of power-ups and no more levels that were purely straight forward. Then Super Mario World which brought a new character plus a much more free envirnment, then Mario 64 with offered abolute freedom into the 3D world. Sunshine I actually liked, and it was pretty different. But then you get to Mario Galaxies, and almost every world is different.

Mario is fantastic, no arguements there, but the last legendary mario game was mario 64. The last game which still holds the previous glow of the old snes and original nintendo days. But that was it, sunshine was ok, just another game not worthy of mario, Mario galaxies has no chance of standing up to the passage of time.
But I have played, tennis, golf, partied, and whatever god aweful sport Nintendo has decided to pin upon their flag ship. If you insist on making Mario games, then so be it. No qualms there, but please, please, stop raping Marios good name by making him play soccer with a turtle.
PS: I liked mario kart. Am I a hypocrite?

That's actually pretty interesting, I wonder how that is going to turn out, but yeah I don't really see why there are all these sports games on video games systems, it's not like the jocks who play sports are going to pay $300+ for a system just so they can buy 2 or 3 new sports games each year for the next 3-4 years, so who the hell is playing them? As for the stuff I named, I wouldn't say I dislike that stuff, well I do hate the Disney kids oriented games and the ones based around famous names, those all suck, and I remember another game whose day has come and gone, Begone Dance Dance Revolution, I cast thee out, with bell, book, and candle I call out unto the Lord to cast you from my sight and into the deepest pits of hell. I've only ever played on the controller. I don't have the endurance (Or the 2 year grace period for my lungs since my mother quit smoking) to play anything hard, and I tend to get my feet mixed up and lose balance. I always play with the controller though and I usually only do the hardest songs... and usually get at least a high B.

According to IGN.com: Videogame release date- June 1st, 2004.
Pitch Black in Theaters (Dvd?): Feb. 12th, 2000
The Chronicals of Riddick, in theaters: June 11th, 2004
Anime, Dark Fury: June 14th, 2004
I haven't seen Dark fury yet. Pitch Black has little to do with the three items that released in 2004, even lacking the name "Riddick" in the title, and not showing anything at the end that would hint towards the next movie. The other three projects were designed separatly from each other, except for several mentions to Butcher Bay in the movie, and a brief scene of Riddick on a planet of ice at the end of the game, matching what is seen in the movie. Pretty much, the game was hardly based on the movies at all. Not only that, but I don't think Riddick actually kills any humans in the first movie, nor does he use much stealth after the ship crashes.

That's kinda the thing though, each one tends to be a brand new experiment in playing. Not so much for 3-6, but with the first you chose a character and played. The second had actual characters and you never really leveled, instead you gained stats. The 7th made magic somthing that had to be equipped and brought out a major advancment in storylines. This is just to start though.
Corwin
06-21-2008, 03:12 AM
I have to agree w/ quiet, the Final Fantasy games were never really intended to be direct sequels to each other, that's why it was such a big deal when they made FFX-2, b/c it was the first sequel to another FF game, granted since then it has started a trend b/c of the popularity of FFVII and now it has what Advent Children and like 2 or 3 games that while not necessarily direct sequels to the game, they are associated w/ it which is a new development, and of course there is FFXIII coming out, which rather than having sequels has multiple games that are part of the some overall storyline but from different perspectives w/ different story progression so that they are unique

Dragonball Z: BT3 would have been the best DBZ game if they kept Evolution Z and the story Structure like the 2nd one instead of cutting them off... that was a disappoint i had
the first one was good, the 2nd was even better but the 3rd one... was just a big letdown, sure more characters... but getting all of them is exetremely time consuming and not worth the effort like it was in the 2nd one
then you got burst limit which was just a gunshot in the foot for DBZ, only 21 playable characters and only up to cell saga? i mean, who wanted a remake of budokai 1...
my opinion with the dragonball z games, Just make one Really Good Game involving the size of the cast like BT3, with a story Structure and character customization like BT2, and just remake the game every generation so that the series isnt forgotten and yet the games would still be worth getting...
thats my take on the DBZ Games...

I would like Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 to be like the second, but with all the bug fixes in the third, but with your own Custom Made Characters like they said they were going to try to do for the forth at this one site.
