Played it an loved it. Very worth the time.
The game itself is about Comander Shephard, a soldier for the earth alliance. The game is about how you track down a Turian (sp?) Specter (high military official with the citadel alliance) who is bent on conquering the known galaxy. Sounds cliche but its not really.
Heres a review of it to help explain some things I left out and such.

I'm on my 3rd play through. Level 59. The xp you need from 59 to 60 is crazy! Loving this game though. No matter how much I try to be kind and good I always end up renagade. I guess it's in my nature though. :(

^^ Lol, the first time I played through I made the choices I would make. I was almost completely Paragon, though the choices near the end got me some renegade points.

yeah it looked soo good and then when I tried playing it on my PC it was so terrible , Choppy frames (not due to graphics card) frequent crashing. Its a RPG Shooter with some squad bashed thrown in there for a lil spice. So angry it doesnt work past that point.....:pissed:

It's such a big game and I haven't came across any major glitches or bugs. I am playing on Xbox 360, but still. Most games have glitches, and this one doesn't have many. ^^

I had one where when I entered the Normandy, if I had the left stick tilted in any direction while it would load, I would be stuck on the other side of the stupid rail at the map where you chose your next destination.

I think it might be because the console is not an elite. I have an elite and thats the only problem I had (see previous post). My cousins on the other hand was the regular 360 he got around launch, his seemed to load slower. Just something I noticed, probably not even true.

Well I finally got this a little under 2 weeks ago for PC, then of course b/c I didn't realize my graphics card was under spec I had to go buy a new one, but once I did, I was glad I upgraded, this game was great, don't get me wrong, sometimes the conversations were a bit slow, but since you could skip the dialogue if you wanted to(as long as it's not an actual cut scene) it worked out great, and it was one of those games where they actually got the whole good/evil system right all the way up to the end of the game. I still kind of wish I had a 360 to play it on as I'm more a fan of playing console games rather than PC(I hate upgrading and learning new keymaps for every other game) but the PC version was wonderful, the keymap was easy, and intuitive, and other than some minor glitch with repeated sound stalling the game for a few seconds and making the spoken dialogue skip(only during the player's character portions and only for the current lines, not the whole conversation) and that was I think more b/c my sound card is old or some of the settings were wrong. It's fairly easy to get a little over half the achievements done in one run through the game, you can get even more done if you play one of the hybrid classes like Sentinel. And of course having it carry over your money, lvl, exp, stats, and gear when you do the New Game+ was cool, especially b/c it cloned the gear your character was currently wearing at the end of the game so you had a copy of each final weapon and piece of gear not only on your char but in your inventory as well, meaning I could immediately give a member of my squad the Spectre X gear as well as having the Spectre VII gear that my other characters were wearing as well for the squad members you pick up later, allowing much faster run throughs of the game when you try for the lvl 60(only available after 1 completed game, not sure if you can do it with a new file or if only available in New Game+) and the squad member achievements or the ones based around a specific number of kills with a specific weapon. I also liked how the majority of achievements gave benefits that carried over regardless while there were only a few that you actually had to pick and choose between. My biggest issue with this game right now is two-fold, part 1 is that they haven't added anymore downloadable content after the first new mission added although supposedly there is more coming, making a sort of Mass Effect 1.5(that was what they called it in interviews) to appease gamers until the sequel comes out. And the second part is that Mass Effect 2 isn't out yet, I can't wait for 2 and 3 to further the story, although I'm wary of what's going to happen to the franchise after that seeing as before the first game was released it was planned as a trilogy but after the record sales and rave reviews it was tentatively announced that they would go beyond the originally planned trilogy, that doesn't bother me as long as they complete the trilogy as planned, and don't try to stretch it out for a 4 and 5th game and so on. If the potential extra games want to start a completely new story arc that's fine with me. But I for one am definitely waiting for Mass Effect 2 to come out, I really loved this game, now I need to go back to it so I can finish unlocking achievements and then create a final save file that has everything done the way I want so I know which file I will be transferring to the sequel.
Working on my first play-through. One of the best RPG experiences I've had, no question. Bioware really did a splendid job on this one.
I'm curious, though, why so many of you are having crashes and bugs. I'm going to assume the ones having most of the trouble are playing the PC version, as I am. When I first installed the game, I couldn't start it up--the system configuration tool didn't want to initialize, and Windows would tell me the game was evil and that it had no solution. However, the bonus "Bring Down the Sky" content file I downloaded included a patch that fixed the issue, and it's been smooth sailing since then. If y'all haven't looked into that, do it. Besides, the bonus mission is pretty sweet. :)

I think it has more to do with Mass Effect's PC requirements, such as me having to get a new graphics card, but I wasn't about to buy a new sound card, my issues with it are almost cosmetic, out of 51 hours for my first time through(I took my time and messed around a lot) my total glitches might have added up to an hour, so no big deal, and definitely not worth getting a new sound card to solve.

I'm running through it for the second time for myself. It is a magnificent game, and I dont know why others are having issues with their PC versions. Mine runs at 60 fps.. although I guess I do have a higher-end upgraded system.. GeForce 9600 is rather nice for most games now.
9800 GTX+ = I win.
(Just kidding. ^_^)

I've seen alot about the game and I've been interested in it for a while, I just haven't gotten around to renting it. Hopefully I will next week.
No, no. This game is a buyer. Worth two play-throughs, at least. And it's a nice piece to add to your game collection anyway.
