A combination of friends and this site. I had been told to watch Bleach, Ruroni Kenshin, and Death Note but had only dabbled in the series because it was too time consuming to find all the episodes. It was after found AF that I began seeing the majority of my life washed away in the surge of anime. Thanks a lot Demon Fox...

started watching anime after I caught part of an episode late one night in college. Was more interesting than studying and little did I know I'd become hooked. The first series I bought was Fushigi Yugi after some recommendations from some friends. I loved it and have been a junkie ever since. I've currently got two series I'm watching Bleach and Naruto.

I used to watch anime on TV when I was a kid(DBZ, Pokemon, Yugioh, Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibokun, and others) But I know didn't they were called anime, but I thank my cousin he was watching Full Metal AlChemist, which made me get super addicted. He used to watch more anime than me but know I beat him, he watched 4, I watched 12.

My god i can barley remember. When i was younger i would come home after elementary school and run to the tv so i could catch gundam and sailor moon. That was so long ago i almost forgot.

I started watching anime just recently, I Tivo adult swim for my nephew, and started watching Bleach. If anyone knows the date AS first aired Bleach#001, thats the date I started watching anime.

Easy! I first watched Tenchi, I had not seen anything like it! Then DBZ came on next! That was more fun! (lotsa fighting! >:3). Although... I did know what genre it was at the time due to lack of computer and me being 10 or 11 doesn't help! XD

Well let's see, I think the first anime I ever watched was Akira(thanks SciFi Channel) and that got me started, then Ronin Warriors, Dragonball, DBZ, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, these series all helped, and I guess SM may have been the first series I ever saw, it's hard to remember at this point, but this is the group that got me hooked initially, and now I can't stop watching

Oh wow...I guess the answer to that would be my brother and sister. When I was little I used to watch DB and DBZ with them and of course watch the video tapes we had. Then when I became a little older (I think around 10) I started watching Anime on the net. Can't remember what ones though, and then of course I came here :P

Well i remember when i was like 4 i watched tenchi and i thought that was mind blowing and then some cool anime with like 5 dudes in armor and there was an armor horse that connected to the main guy and he had swords. Then i saw Kenshin and then that was it right there. i knew then that anime was the stuff.

A friend got me involved in manga and anime. Like Dragonball and pokemon and....
I started watching anime on youtube. But something happened, I cant remember much about it but youtube had to stop having anime on its site [or something like that] And a youtube video advertised a site on anime. Then that site developed into this. [ I think thats how it happened.]

no that's pretty understandable, a lot of ppl don't actually upload anime to youtube, they upload those stupid vids advertising their own sites and put so many search tags that it looks like it's supposed to be an episode of something, then it leads you to a site, and you find this one afterwards from an ad on their page, or b/c one of us has been evil and advertised on their site

My cousins got me into anime. At night, when I slept over to their house, I remember watching this anime about Time travelling. Got hooked into it. Then it worked its way to Voltes V, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Dragon ball.

I guess my brother's to blame, though he wouldn't know it. He used to watch a few of the random anime movies that were available in canada way back when, like heavy metal (technically not anime cuz it's from canada, but whatevs), fist of the northstar, akira, etc. akira was the first one I remember watching. The dude getting shot up by the cops at the beginning is probably my earliest memory of anime. After that a couple channels on tv played some movies every rare occassion. usually ninja scroll, but I watched it every time it was on. Then dragonball made it's way over and then DBZ, followed by gundam wing and anime started to actually take off in canada shortly after that. Those were good times because I was actually able to go to the movie store and they had an anime section. Plus, if I looked hard enough, I was able to find a few shows for download too. many years passed and voila, I found animefuel. super duper

I started to watch cartoon at first... the Disney's cartoons... Thanks to my Lord of Creator, who brought me to the world of anime...At that time, I rent anime to watch, and my very first is pokemon... followed by digimon and sailormoon... and until now, I get to know a lot of anime......
Ahahaha.....anime is my childhood best companion ^^

I happened upon it on luck, I was flipping through my t.v. and happened to stop it on Adult Swim. Well InuYasha was playing, and I got hooked within seconds so I guess you could say the t.v. did.

I don't remember as I started within the earlier anime days such as Sailor Moon and Samurai X. I think I was just hooked on how cool the animation looked. Sailor Moon was so sparkly and Samurai X was just so bloody (::D:) It was awesome

The first anime I've watched is Pokemon, even if back then I didn't know it was an anime. When I realized what an anime was (only last year) it happened like this..

Friend : I like animes, try Death Note.
Me : Animes are for nerds.
-Day after-
Me : Omg me love Death Note.

And now I'm addicted. Yay~

Yeah. Well in grade 9 I had no freaking clue what Anime was, so when my friends all started talking about it, and I said I didn't know what it was, they were all like "*GASP* You don't know what Anime is!?" and then I was invited to one of their houses, and they made me watch Anime, and I got hooked! xD

I was a still a kid when I first started watching anime. Back then, I didn't know they were called anime. I just turn on the tv and tune in to gundam wing, pokemon, neon genesis evangelion and others during the afternoons. When one of my friends explained to me what animes were, I turned into from an ordinary viewer to an anime fan. ::D:
