WHICH IS BETTER THE NINTENDO 64 OR the playstation 1 Personaly I Think that the 64 OWNS THE PS!

Playstation one outsold the nintendo 64 and although it had bigger load times its designs were overall less blocky, and the Playstation one had a larger library as well.

I go for the PS1 b/c most of the PS games I like and I would love to play them all over again if I still had them

Crash Bandicoot
Metal Gear Solid 1
and more.
I rest my case mr. loudmouth.

Spyro sucked, Crash was a ripoff, MGS was great. That's only three games. How can you "rest your case" with just that?

Super Mario 64
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Zelda Majora's Mask
Banjo-Kazooie
Mario Kart 64
F-Zero X
Paper Mario
Mario Party
Donkey Kong 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Starfox 64
Harvest Moon 64
Super Smash Bros.
007 Goldeneye
Kirby 64
Yoshi's Story
Mario Tennis
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
and some more...

Compared to the PSone discs, The N64 cartridges had:
Zero load time
Improved graphical power
Greater memory storage
Improved durability
Built in save

the ONLY advantage discs over cartridges have is they are cheaper to make.

The Nintendo 64 introduced the control stick, rumble feature, and four player capabilities to gaming, all three of which Sony would later copy and apply to their own system in the form of the Dualshock controller and the crummy Multitap.

Okay so it had 1 RPG. But it still doesnt come close to the like of say Final Fantasy IX, Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, etc.

Overall, the N64 only had Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Super Smash, Ocirina of Time, and Super Mario 64. The playstation had the Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, Tactics, Legend of Dragoon, Metal Gear Solid, Suikoden II.

The playstation library is better than the N64. Enough said...

the Nintendo 64 library is better than the PSone library. nuff said. It seems the ONLY good games people can name for the PSOne are all RPGs. And Metal Gear Solid.

I got them both. I've got only good 64 titles (many I wanted but couldn't get). That numbers 36 games. I've got 24 excellent ps1 titles, plus another 60.

As for n64 rpg's, Paper Mario. Hybrid Heaven. Harvest Moon 64 (Don't ask why, it's classified as one). I remember in several magazines a few more games, which titles I can't find anywhere online.

Specially since we've been talking about it in the game forums. You can find quite a few rpgs on the 64, but for the most part they don't compare to the ps1 rpgs. Paper Mario was an excellent rpg though, and it took on a different style than conventional titles.

Personally, I like both systems for what they had, but there's no longer a point in arguing which one is better now that we're two game generations past that.

I'm all for PS1, while I liked the 64 and had many great games on it, and to be honest, had it a lot longer than the ps1, I personally just liked the selection of RPG's on the ps1 better, not trying to disparage the ones that were available on the 64 and a number of other great games I had like Mario Kart for starters, and Banjo-Kazooie, but I loved FFVII-FFIX, Legend of Dragoon, Koudelka, Xenogears, Parasite Eve 1 and 2, and many others, I spent a lot of hours in front of my ps1 playing

N64 was so fun,
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
Super Mario 64
Paper Mario
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
007 Goldeneye
and other games. Where I come from, if you had Ps1 without a N64, then you would be some kind of freak.

N64 was the best. Starfox, Super Mario 64, Zelda Ocarina of time and Goldeneye were great. But then i never play RPGs on any console, i think its far better on pc. (I've never seen a decent inventory on console)

i would have to go with the playstation one because i loved the games they released for that system. Some of the all time greatest games were for that system.

analogZero
06-07-2008, 09:22 PM
both were and still are amazing. I've still got all my ps1 titles, and I bought a 64 several months back (mostly just to play goldeneye and mario kart tho). ps1 had a longer life than 64 if I remember right, so it's only natural in that case that it'd gain more popularity and a greater library. I'd have to say as an overall system, n64 was a far greater breakthrough for gaming, but ps1 games dominated. so stoked monsoon brought up valkyrie profile, that game's the bee's tits!

Felix42

But Zelda: Ocarina of Time are the all time greatest game...

That was the most preordered game in history till halo 3 I think.

Corwin
06-08-2008, 07:24 AM
yeah, now the question is what will usurp that as the next most preordered game? and I'd be curious if they did a poll of all systems, what game of all time would actually ring in as the #1 through #3, rather than some arbitrary system based poll

I had that game but didn't care for the fighting system it had. wore thin on me because of that, and as a result I never finished it.
chrono cross was pretty cool, a nice follow up. star ocean: second story, grandia, bushido blade...

Some do. It all come down to which games you liked better. 4,5,6 or 7,8,9. Personally I think 7,8,9 are better, but not by much.

Then why is the Wii winning?

Because at first it was the cheapest and that is what people cared about and zelda. But a lot of people dont know that the ps3 can be bought for a cheaper price now i got mine 300 dollars brand new. When the ps3 came out there were no games but that is now changing. When you look at it the wii dosent have that many great things to do most of the games use the remotes that hard to use fo a lot of games. And the ps1 was the best because of the games you had to play, but it took a little while to build that amazing list of games.

We'll debate this later, but just understand for now that the Ps3 sales haven't gone up that much and the Wii still sells out every month.

Because it actually has the games to back it up unlike the ps3 with like only 3 good games, the wii has like 8 or 9.

And the 360 has the most so it wins But thats not what we are here to talk aBout is it and if rpgs are the only reason people are voting for the ps1 then wow os that all that some of you people play and there was metal gear solid which i will say was good.

PS1, I still play Tomb Raider 1-3 on my PS1. Its lasted longer than all my PS2s. The game on the 64 felt to "Arcade" for me. IDK, tho, that was a tough one.
