What new games are you excited about? Personally I'm excited that the new Beyond Good and Evil has actually been confirmed. My brother is ready for Spore.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 06:42 AM
Spore definitely, that game looks like so much fun, I remember when they put out the article on it like 3 years ago, I can't believe it has taken this long to get out, and of course I'm also looking forward to new Final Fantasy games

I can't get final fantasy anymore since I'm not getting a ps3. But, my brother is hoping the new tactics on the ds won't be Japan only. Fallout 3 looked like it will be good, and I also can't wait for Fable 2. There's many more games I'm waiting for but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
Of course, things are gonna get nuts when E3 comes along in July. Oh! I also saw a preview for the new splatterhouse on 1up.com, that looked pretty good too.
Edit: If it ever comes out, DUKE NUKEM FOREVER!!

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is coming out in NA, so I am gonna get that. Sadly there are no more good Wii games coming out this year.

At least, not until Nintendo announces their software. I think they might announce a new pikmin (1/9 chance) Animal Crossing (1/4 chance) Mario Party (1/2 chance) and a new kirby game (1/3 chance)
Corwin
05-29-2008, 07:02 AM
yeah I forgot about Fable 2 and the all important KH games, and I know there a dozen other games that I've looked up and kept an eye on and just can't remember right now

Well, since we're all heading to bed soon, we can come back and post what we remember later.

Okay, after checking a bit, I found some more good games.
Ninja Gaiden 2, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, I heard a rumor about a new Kotor game.
There's also the new sonic game which would hopefully bring sonic to the good old days again. On the DS, There's a new castlevania confirmed, and I think one was confirmed for the wii too (And it wouldn't be 3d movment)

Well let's see, the new Alone in the Dark games is something I've been looking forward to for a while, the magazine article on it last year or the year before was really interesting, and while I haven't gotten the chance to play Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey yet I'm looking forward to the sequels for both games although the only one I remember them announcing is Mass Effect 2 along w/ the downloadable content that is going to comprise Mass Effect 1.5. And of course I can't forget Soul Calibur IV, I mean who doesn't want the chance to smack Nightmare and Cervantes around w/ Yoda or Darth Vader guest characters, that's just going to be great, and I need a new Zelda game to get my fix, and I might check out the new Golden Axe just to see if it has the same classic feel as the old Turbo Grafix version

I don't think we'll be seeing another zelda, unless they decide to continue the windwaker storyline. Otherwise we'll be waiting until the next console. They were showing the second Gears of War game and that looked really good. I never got to try the first.
As for Alone in the dark, I'm not entirely sure. I'm not a big fan of the scary games, but aside from that Alone in the Dark won't have liniar playing, it's letting you play in different chapters, or as they put it episodes of a series, and each can be played at whatever time. G4tv.com had a short little article about that by Adam Sesslar.

Dragon ball z burst limit for the ps3 it so awsome i mean the graphics they killed it it looks so awsome the only bad thing i think that it only goes to the cell games..im still trying to find out how long it is but the game is awsome....
Star wars unleashed i want that game to come out so bad i cant wait it the best start wars game ever....
Corwin
05-29-2008, 05:04 PM
yeah well while the first one was amusing I wasn't a huge fan of the ps1 Alone in the Dark, but everything about this one reminds of cult classics like Silent Hill, so I'm looking forward to it, but I guess first I should be looking forward to a point where I an afford a ps3, as for Zelda, it kind of depends, since there has only been 1 real game for the Wii for it and it was also on the Gamecube I think we are ripe to see another one for the Wii before the systems time is up, but it may not come for another year or three, but then again w/ the push it seems they are making towards putting Zelda games on the handheld systems so that they will have a franchise to work w/ other than pokemon, you may be right, they may only use new larger Zelda games as a drawing point for new consoles and then get you to buy the handheld to play the rest of the series
quietchat
05-29-2008, 06:37 PM
Of course, we almost had Twilight Princess for the 3rd year of the gamecube, instead of the 6th. There is a possibility that they are cooking up somthing new but to date it's been one use zelda per console, about one metroid game per console (Including handhelds, not including re-release, exclusion of Prime 1/2 on gamecube) and Mario is balanced with one platforming game per console after the Nes (Excluding Yoshi's Island on the Snes, since it's yoshi) and balanced with other genre like mario soccer or dr mario. It's a little odd that they used each of their biggest franchises in a little more than a year. That leaves us wtih some possible titles like the ones I mentioned on the first page. They may surprise us again at E3.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 07:49 PM
What about Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, not counting Twilight Princess since it went cross system as a Wii release title, that's 3 Zelda titles for one system, and as you pointed out there were 2 Metroid Prime games on GC as well, it seems to me like the GC had a very good run in terms of franchise games, now I don't expect there to be an equal number of Zelda and Metroid games on the Wii but it would be nice and I think we can at least expect to see one more Zelda game on the Wii given it is still relatively recent as far as systems go
quietchat
05-29-2008, 07:53 PM
I kinda forget about majora's mask because the 64 was already nearing the end of it's life cycle and majora's mask came out probably less than a year before the gamecube came out. I still don't think we'll see anything as epic as the games we've gotten so far for this console cycle, but there's still the possibility. I'm kinda hoping that they make another new paper mario though.

05-29-2008, 07:57 PM
Also there was Four Swords Adventures on Gamecube, and Gameboy had Zelda Link's Awakening, Oracle of seasons, and Oracle of Ages, ALSO the Gameboy Advance had both the Link to the Past remake and the Minish Cap, AND the NES had the original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: Adventure of Link. So actually... except for a few, there is usually a couple Zelda games on a console.
And I am with you on getting another Paper Mario game. Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64 is my favorite game of all time. Really.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 07:57 PM
yeah that was my fault, I kind of forgot Majora's Mask was N64 b/c even though I still have the cartridge for OoT on N64 I play the disc of it for the GC that came w/ Master Quest remake of it
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:02 PM
I actually have both Master Quest and Collecters edition. To date the only game I don't have is the origional Zelda 2 cartrige and Four Swords. Every other game or release (Excluding the classic edition on gba and wii download) for zelda I have in some way. My brother owns oracale of seasons while I have ages (An odd little rule that two versions nets my brother the red while me the blue).
As for paper mario, there's a true sequal on the gamecube, and another game on the wii that's more like a platformer than an rpg.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 08:06 PM
yeah I try not to think of Paper Mario, I have the first one, I just wasn't that fond of it, when I originally bought it I thought it was going to be more like Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, so I was somewhat disappointed, I'm not saying it was a bad game, I just didn't really like it, but I really wish Nintendo could get some more mature content, I'm not saying GTA kind of mature, but get it up to the avg lvl of rpg's, and of course I'd love to see them get some more rpg's, they've been doing great w/ the new innovations brought around for the Wii, imagine what they could do w/ an rpg, I'd love to see their take on something like Legend of Dragoon or Shadow Hearts battle systems, that could become a great way to play
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:10 PM
Of course they have to make a deal with the companies involved. The one for shadowhearts I'm not sure who made it, but I'm pretty sure that they are sony only. Legend of Dragoon's development team I want to say went out of business, so the parent company or whoever owns it now would be the ones to make the deal. Since the development team wouldn't be the same then it would be a far different experience.

NO! Don't be dissing Paper Mario, I LOVE THAT GAME!!!
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:15 PM
lol koopaking. I love the origional so much that I keep it in front of my other 64 games.
Anyway, I just looked and Legend of Dragoon was developed by Sony's internal development team, so that means for it to be on the wii, Nintendo would need to buy the license right from Sony. Oh well, at least they'd be making a profit for once on gaming this generation.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 08:21 PM
I just used LoD as an example b/c it was a great game, there was a sequel in the works but for some reason they canceled it despite popular support from the gamers, just like Nintendo did when quashing the release of the other Mother games in the US, which would have netted them a fair amount of profit, I also feel that someone should get around to making the third ChronoTrigger franchise game, I don't care if it's sony or nintendo, although as I stated in the other thread, the wii could allow for some cool possibilities w/ rpg actions, sort of like they talked about when making Earthbound 64 for the N64DD w/ the whole internal clock thing allowing some events to progress even when you had the game turned off
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:25 PM
Maybe.... Well, out of all of Nintendo's big classics, Kirby and Earthbound are the only ones that haven't been used yet on the wii. The man that invented Kirby was the lead director of Brawl, so he wouldn't be able to get it ready this year if it is around.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 08:28 PM
That's true, but Nintendo has had so many good thing over the years that could have been turned into franchises, or that were turned into franchises but for some reason despite popular support in the US, UK and Europe, were never ported out of Japan, which considering they are working for a profit margin always baffled me

Hey what about Starfox? I would love to see a Starfox game on the Wii, I think they could do some pretty neat things with controlling the Arwings with the Wiimote.
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:33 PM
Well, they did starfox on the ds. I suppose they could do one on wii, but people would be pissed if it's not exclusive flying once again. Personally though I liked dinosaur planet on the GC
Koopaking
05-29-2008, 08:38 PM
Dinosaur Planet was pretty good. But I really liked Star Fox Assault, it had a great combination of Linear space flying levels, on foot and Landmaster levels, and the really cool free roaming levels where you can do all three. I just thought it was too short.
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:40 PM
I heard the major complaint was just that it had foot levels. I never played the snes game but I loved the 64 game.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 08:40 PM
wasn't it star fox armada? and dinosaur planet was so so, it was nice to see another action adventure style game like that but personally it was sub par and glitchy as hell, but yes a Star Fox or Rogue Squadron game on the Wii would be great
quietchat
05-29-2008, 08:44 PM
Glitchy? My copy has never glitched once. I just sucked when I was on the level with the Giant T-Rex
Corwin
05-29-2008, 08:58 PM
maybe I should rephrase, it wasn't glitchy in the sense of what most ppl term a glitch, but the controls were spotty, sometimes you click to have him swing the staff or shoot or jump and he wouldn't, the controls just weren't what you'd expect from games at the time
quietchat
05-29-2008, 09:03 PM
Oh. My copy worked just fine though. There might have been a problem with your controller, I know my brother messes up all of his. I keep everything I own in pretty good condition.
Koopaking
05-29-2008, 09:04 PM
Star Fox Armada was the working title. The name of the game ended up being Star Fox Assault.
Corwin
05-29-2008, 09:05 PM
so do I, to the point where I don't let my brother touch anything I own unless I have the time to keep an eye on it, and even then I keep extra controllers around specifically for him to play w/ so that he won't screw mine up, I buy 2 of those cheap extra controllers and keep at least 2 licensed ones for myself, one to use and one as a backup
Koopaking
05-29-2008, 09:13 PM
really? I tend to purposely not buy any extra controllers so I can have an excuse not to play any multiplayer games with people. Well I usually end up getting one or two more. But so far I haven't gotten a second Wiimote.
quietchat
05-29-2008, 09:17 PM
Me niether. I don't have really have any multiplayer for the wii cept brawl and mario party and mario kart... dbz hard to say stuff three.... Raving rabbits 1....
Corwin
05-30-2008, 01:53 AM
I don't worry about it, even if I get games that are multiplayer I'll just tell ppl I don't have the extra remotes, if they know I do, I'll lie about owning the games, if I can't, I just flat out tell them no, and then wander off before I catch crap for it, I like to have backup controllers b/c I've had controllers crap out on me in the middle of a game, kind of annoying to try and leave a game paused until the weekend when u can go get a new controller
quietchat
05-30-2008, 02:00 AM
Back to the games. I just remembered somthing that would be good on the Wii, the sequel to Tales of Symphonia.
Corwin
05-30-2008, 02:11 AM
oh yeah, I can't wait for that, I do need to get a Wii just for that, I loved the first one, although I kind of played it in the wrong order
quietchat
05-30-2008, 02:18 AM
Wrong order?
Corwin
05-30-2008, 02:59 AM
When you finish up w/ the Fire Temple(don't remember name) in the desert, when you come out of the mountains to the east you are supposed to go south to the harbor to take the ship across to the island and the Water Temple, but I went north and ended up starting that tower which amounted to the Dark Temple I think, and I couldn't get the ship to take me across the water until I finished all the stuff in the northern area that would have been done when you came around before the second disc

05-30-2008, 03:06 AM

Koopaking
05-30-2008, 03:08 AM
that's not really the wrong way, just the harder way because you come to stuff you aren't really supposed to earlier, but by the time you get to the water temple and Palmacosta, it's a breeze because you are way above those guys once you get there.
quietchat
05-30-2008, 03:12 AM
Oh yeah, another game I want to play. The New Banjo Kazooie. Did you guys see the trailer for that?
Corwin
05-30-2008, 03:13 AM
yeah Koopa it was, that tower was especially hard, but when I got to Palmacoste it was a breeze, in a fun way, and no I heard about the new BK game but I haven't seen the trailer for it
quietchat

check for it at 1up. Actually, give me a bit and I might be able to find it
Koopaking
05-30-2008, 03:17 AM
I think the new Banjo Kazooie game looks stupid. They made it from a platforming adventure game into a car building/racing game. They said there will be some platforming, but it's only about 20% of the gameplay, and Banjo and Kazooie don't have their moves anymore from the old games. I think Microsoft really screwed up Rare, it was better when they were one of Nintendo's second parties.

Corwin
05-30-2008, 05:40 AM
which classics, the old atari, pc, turbo-grafix, neo-geo, game & watch stuff that started it all, or the more contemporary classics like zelda, mario, donkey kong, sonic.....?

Corwin
06-01-2008, 05:32 AM
actually I'm pretty sure Merc 2 has been out for a while, I think what I want is a new mmorpg to play, problem is that thing sucks up my life, that's part of the reason I never bothered going back to WoW when I took time off from it, I realized how much more time I had during the day/night when I wasn't playing it, like 18 more hours each day
quietchat
06-01-2008, 05:41 AM
Kinda hard to find a good MMO, the most well known are of course everquest and WOW. There was a new one that came out a while ago, and it's numbers actually surpassed GTA 4. Age of Conan or somthing like that.
Corwin

One I was interested in is Huxley, I like MMORPG's but frankly, I'm reluctant to start playing them again, if I did, it would have to be at the launch of a new one b/c then I feel like I can get more done in it as everyone is racing to hit the lvl cap at the same time, instead of playing catch up 3 months or more later
quietchat
06-01-2008, 05:48 AM
I've never heard of Huxley. What was that one about? Oh yeah, I think there's supposed to be a star trek mmo if you're into that. I think there's also supposed to be a new starwars mmo.

I just started getting into Tabula Rasa now.. I actually like it pretty well. Back and forth between that and WoW.
I would say I'm looking forward to Mass Effect on the PC.. but it's out now and I have it and it friggin rocks. I'm really looking forward to playing Alone in the Dark for the Wii here soon. And Deadly Creatures.. and The Conduit.. and Spore (preordered the Creature Creator.. so many things I want to play with on that). Fallout 3 is another one I'm really looking forward too also.

Just a quicky, is there anyone here that has any interest in the new grand turismo? Seems like it's not worth getting since it's pretty much just better dents, more shining, and pretty much the same game.
Corwin
06-01-2008, 06:07 AM
Yeah I've heard Mass Effect rocked, as well as Lost Odyssey, now you just have to wait for Mass Effect 1.5 and 2, and I think they are making Lost Odyssey 2 as well, although I'm not too sure about that, and of course Spore looks great, that is definitely something I will have to get, I've heard good things about Tabula Rasa, but once again, no desire to see 12+ hours a day of my life sucked into an MMORPG, especially when sometimes all that consists of is sitting around chatting with people waiting to get something going, heck if I'm going to spend 12+ hours anywhere, it is going to be right here adding and watching anime

It's an MMORPG/FPS made by the creators of Guild Wars and gaming guru, Richard Gariott. Just go look it up on NCSoft's page. It's a PC game of course. I'm enjoying it very much, and there's quite a bit to do in it. I don't let it suck up 12+ hours a day though, and I rarely just sit and talk to people. I'm more of a soloist in the MMO world, unless I need a group for specific areas.
Also, I would check out Exteel and Dungeon Runners while you're on the NCSoft page. Both of them are F2P. Exteel is basically Gunz with customizable mechs, which is by all accounts, awesome. Dungeon Runners is a Diablo-ish game, but with alot of humor built into it, and I've enjoyed the time I've spent playing on there as well.

I'm more of a soloist in MMORPG's too, but WoW requires a lot of party and raid exploration in the endgame, even the new content they have been adding monthly requires at least 2-3 ppl to finish, and I just spend 12+ hours b/c I get into the game and don't want to stop playing until I reach a point I feel is good for it

But still, if a company only makes ONE game series, they have to be really dedictated and actually able to make a profit. If they have such a limited number of games then the one time that they don't get the game out, it has to be delayed, or it doesn't sell, they are gone. Imagine if Nintendo only made Zelda games, and then the unpopular 2nd game came out? There goes your money and there goes the company.

I imagine he means they don't have an ingame monetary system, and that instead of having home base's w/in the game that would need defending you probably fight more like guerrilla groups or cell's so that each unit can act more or less independently towards the overall objective, I'm still looking forward to Huxley though, of course I need to get some money first, and decide if I'm willing to start paying for another mmorpg that will suck my time away
