So, I was walking home from the local ice cream place after a long day of hiking and planting trees in the snow and hail. It had been a harsh day at work, and I wanted something to relax with, so I went for my favorite Cake Batter Ice Cream (why I wanted ice cream after a cold day like that I'll never know). However, as I walked through the plaza back to my pad I saw out of my peripheral shady figures start to appear in the dull evening light. I found myself surrounded all of a sudden by strange looking creatures. The toxic fumes of petrulli filled my nostrils. The way they willingly put on lethal amounts of it boggled my mind. Their incoherent muttering made my heart beat faster. What was it they wanted? Why were they confronting me? As the almost palpable "earthy" stench continued to permeate my senses, my vision started to blur! With my main senses starting to go, and my being tired from work things started to look grim. Sweat started to run down my forehead as I made my stand against the creatures who blocked my passageway to safety. Just as I was about to launch my first of what was going to be a series of dragon kicks, a distinct figure emerged from the mass of stank and shadyness. It was my old nemesis, Old Pirate Hat Guy (He shall be further referred to as OPHG)! I finally realized what they wanted, and what they were here for. As OPHG staggered toward me he started to expel air through his vocal chords in such as way that I was just barely able to understand him. "Can I have a lick of your ice cream?"
I stood there dumbfounded. "No," I said as I pushed my way through them and continued home.
I know what you guys might be thinking: "Oh, that's mean. He's homeless and doesn't have food. He just wanted to survive!"
Well, I've talked to these homeless people. They have made this choice to be homeless in my town at least. Most of them, when asked, will tell me that they are "Urban Campers." They have chosen to be moochers and to be so damn obnoxious. You can't go anywhere downtown without getting asked for change or alcohol or something! It's ridiculous. Most of them are my age too! I've given them numbers to call, and places to go to get jobs. Jobs that will even give them housing and food, and they still won't go for it! So, after all this and a long day of work, they have the audacity to ask me for my pizza slice, or whatever I have? What the hell?!
Besides, it's a misnomer to call them "homeless people." They're hardly people.

"They're hardly people."
Well,i dont really wanna argue with you but..
Who the hell do you think you are?!
Just because they don't have a home mean's nothing. How would you feel if you were on you're own, without a house, good cloths,or any food.Have you even concidered that they don't want to work because they are embarrased, since they don't have clean cloths, they haven't done bath in weeks.Plus, they are propably un-educated people therefore even if they find a job,it's propably going to be on a stubid company which will make them work for a piece of bread. But i guess it's hard for someone to understand when he lives in US,the land of hamburgers, and rich people.

I think you're forgetting that the homeless folks are also in the US. Also, I'm barely educated and I have a shitty job that I work for so that I can have the house and clothes. I don't just not get a job so that I can smoke pot all day, which really IS what they're doing. I've watched them. Or just getting drunk under the overpasses and passing out in mid-afternoon.

Hmm, perhaps your right. Homeless people are dirty, drugged out, useless dregs. they dont even deserve the title of person. I think we should start calling every homeless man, women and child, dog. We could refer to them as "Homeless Dogs" has so much better of a ring to it, and it doesn't bring the rest of the race down. But then again it insults the dogs, but who cares.
Perhaps we should create a committee that goes around all day and kicks homeless dogs in the ribs. We could call it Skid, Society for Kicking Inhuman Dogs. We could have a camera crew follow a herd of homeless for about a week. Then at the end of the episode, a group of 5 runs up and kicks every single one of them in the ribs until they die. You show everything that happens on MTV. Man that would bring in so much money, and it would improve the standard for entertainment on MTV. Its a win-win in my book.

There Sun Tzu and I go making things up just to get people to argue with us, and no one wants to play :(
We just wanted to play some Devil's Advocate and see what people would say... Grr...

Many people don't realize that hobos are a completely different species from us. They begin live as a pupa inside of a dumpster, and then hatch into the homeless larva and begin their life in the concrete jungle. They are born there and know nothing of homes or money to begin with.
Whenever I see homeless people...I cry..I feel so bad for them..

Sun Tzu, they already have something similar to that, its called Bumfights. It's so hilarious they get hobos to do outrageous stunts for a couple bucks or a sandwich or something.

Watch out, in that video they speak what could be called "Street Language"
I mean there is really bad language and content in here so, yeah... discretion and all that stuff.

Ah man, I hate Bum Fights. I remember hearing about it back in the day (which was a Wednesday). I don't know what it is, but it just makes me feel like... Society sucks, I guess. The fact that something such as that can be successful.
I don't know... Then again, why is it so different than anything else people watch? Things like UFC and all that garbage and almost anything that we view as entertainment that revolves around violence is almost exactly the same as Bum Fights. Think about it, people who do shows or fight for a living, their fighting for a sandwich too, so to speak...

if you ppl think you are differet species that those

I laugh at this concept mainly because it gives people who are better off than you the right to look down upon you and refer to you as nothing but lowly scum. *when you look at it that's basically what you're doing*

Sorry guys but i agree with sano and shimi.. however, its easy to say that they aren't worthless and it is also easy to see how much they suffer! many hobos become like that out of choice, but they are not to blame.. many people in this would really do not get a chance, many do have luxeries as we do.. weither we are rich , poor , or just living day to day!.. i will be honest " we are no one to critize how and what they are!" yes many of them are like that through addicitons such as drugs, alchol, etc.. , but the way people live their lives is completly up to them... Though i believe many of them can make something of themselves and they are provided with food and shelter in the us. weither you believe it or not! Am not asking to change your way of thinking , nor am i asking to see them a different way.. all am saying is that if you dislike it, then do something about it..

Then they should live their lives without asking me for change. Every man is in control of their own destiny, anyone who states they arent is simply weak minded. Those on the streets have CHOSEN to be on the streets, chosen by making the wrong decisions in life, or by using alchohol as a crutch. They deserve to bear the brunt of the entirety of their stupidity in whatever means comes to them.
Lightening their load only puts undo strain on the working people of society, and advocates their life style. They are moochers plain and simple, and they have learned that they can survive in a way that offers nothing to the world around them. Kick them off my street and back into the work force. Dont give them free money or booze, its stupid and it allows them to keep living the way they are.

while were at it we might as well remove them as well. I suppose we could turn the places where they hand out the welfare checks into a game show that faces the poor against lions, sort of like what they did in the old school roman days. If the poor win then we give them their months welfare check and send em on their way.
Of course that way we have to cover both the cost of the welfare check and the lion that died, so I suppose we could just put a tiger in the winners closet and take the check back to buy another lion.

ok enough playing with the devil. it's about time to mention some other important factors that go into homelessness.
Many homeless (in the range of about 20 some percent I believe) have severe mental disorders that prevent them from actually performing anything we'd call a job. They're left to the streets unsupervised, unmedicated, and unable to grasp what the world we know is like. Many become homeless at young ages due to escaping from abusive family lives where the only people that you and I would think they could turn too, their family, are there worst enemy. I don't know about anyone else, but I've only ever landed one job with a resume, application and a nice shirt. After that I had to create my own job and say stuff it to the whole employee life. So I can easily see how many young ones are unable to find employment, especially if they look like somebody who's been wearing the same clothes day in day out for the past X months. Some have addictions, and inadequate social skills, they just don't sip caffeine and sit on the computer all day...cough...
And ya, some just outright choose to be homeless...and you're missing out. Sounds easy...though I wouldn't live in the city. f*ck that. who wants to be around society when you've got that much freedom. If only I could be a boxcar hobo and leave you nobos behind.

for now, i will ignore my disgust your peer's comments that the homeless are less than human. also, i urge that a distinction be made between those who are voluntarily homeless and those who are have the misfortune to find themselves without shelter.
i will refer to the latter as homeless and i believe that they add much to society. in my own town, the homeless do a lot of volunteer hours in exchange for a hot meal and i know that similar programs are all over the u.s. for the pure purpose of breaking down the stigma against those who are homeless. what makes a sentient being human is up to moral debate, but their financial situation should not have anything to do with it. just because they are unable to balance themselves, or because they haven't caught a lucky break in a while should not disqualify them from the supposed superior ranks of humans.
as for those who are voluntarily homeless, i applaud their enthusiasm to live life with minimal material attachment.
and, as a final note, ice cream is expensive. it's a sign of privilege if you can spare such money for nonessential substance and for someone to ask you to share the wealth shouldn't be so controversial.

I refer to your first point, While granted some homeless may contribute in one way or another to society, the vast majority are sitting on the overpass harassing teenagers and drinking alchohol. When offered any form of help, besides something financial or edible, they refuse it. They are adverse to pulling their own weight, and therefore deserve to be removed. As Noodle stated, you can get a job anywhere, its not that hard, but you would be required to work to support yourself. If they made the decision to load their body with drugs, and cloud their mind with alchohol I sure as hell dont wanna have to be the one that must suffer the consequences.
And if they choose to be homeless to escape the trappings of modern society, well then so be it... Just dont ask for a bite of Noodle's ice cream. Its his damn't, if you want one, find the money in the trash to get one.

Its their fault if they are addicted not mine, they can pay for their habbit. And you can get a job, use some of the money you pan handle to wash your shirt at a local dry cleaner. If I can get a job to bus tables wearing a bowling shirt, then they can get a manual labor job lugging bricks about. From there you build yourself up.

then all humanity is at fault and we should wipe em all out. Whos with me? Xenocide all around!

all right,
Whats your stance on a roving deathsquad as a solution to the "homeless problem".
Personally I believe they are worse than human, worthy only of our contempt and hatred. They contribute nothing to society, preferring to soak and absorb our good will. Useless petty men, and they like ice cream.... Those bastards.
i think that to the extent that it is a 'problem' is the governmental reaction to it. the few resources available to their community should not face so many hardships to remain. many of the first programs to go when funding gets cut are those who take care of the homeless because of the lack of income coming in from those places in the first place.
i think that we have a social responsibility to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves. or, if taking care of them is too much for an individual person, at least not condemning their situation which is usually out of their hands in the first place.
they are humans who have hit a patch a bad luck and within a capitalistic society, if you are unable to find the resources to maintain a roof over your head, it is extremely tough to find your way back into social acceptance. feeling of rejection are very strong and to top that with the insult that they are less than human is inhumane on the insulters part.

Hahaha! I can't believe I didn't find this topic earlier, this is hilarious XD
Noodle, I throughly enjoyed your narrative. And in part I have to agree, way to go.
Sun, I think the Skid and gladiatorial combat ideas are fabulous, but we must think about think about this practically. If this started happening, people would be less likely to be homeless and the industry would kill its self, then we would start importing hobos in order to satisfy demand. I say we market the idea to other countries (Europe still has many intact colosseums) and export our homeless. This will also provide the US with an economic stimulus.
Seriously, there are enough welfare programs and kind people, that no homeless person needs to be homeless if they don't want to be. I have known many homeless people, I met a man under an overpass in Atlanta GA who had been left by his wife and daughter and become homeless due to a series of bad choices and unfortunate circumstances. Guess what? HE HAD A JOB, he was working his way off the street and doing a fine job of it. I believe for someone to choose to be homeless and still ask for handouts is utterly shameful.

You guys are taking this to seriously. Let them be I say. They choose to live like this so why even care about it. Sure they smell and aren't pleasant to look at but thats what they want so I don't care as long as they don't come to me for money.

Homeless people are the best example for staying in school, getting good grades, and going on to college.
Dropping out didn't work for them so don't expect it to work for you.

ok, i don't why you people are saying such bad things about hobos. not all hobos become hobos by choice, some of them just have really bad luck no matter how hard they try. however they are still human, and you still have to treat them as humans. see, hobos are just people who have hit rock bottom and the only way left for them to go is up. calling them names and looking down isn't gonna help that process :ramen:

Yes but it may give them a little motivation to start contributing to society ;)
Besides, every class of human gets made fun of, why should hobos be exempt? It's like why can you say anything you want about caucasian americans, but you mention a black and are suddenly racist?

i'm not saying you can't talk bad things about hobos, i'm just telling you it's not gonna help anything, and it probably ain't gonna be worth the effort.

...even if it can be good for a laugh? I believe making fun of anyone (to an extent) is extereemly profitable if it makes someone laugh. An dhomeless people are just all to easy to laugh at. Besides, if they're a decent hobo, they'd probably laugh with you!
