This is my frist post, but I just got finished watching all of the xxxHolic episodes on animefuel.com and have yet to watch Tsubasa chronicles. But I have read both mangas and was wondering why the mangas and the anime didn't quite go together?

The story plots went together very well and what I have seen is absolutely fantastic, but the mangas go together. What happens in one story affects the other...how come - other than vague references such as White Mokona or Fye's staff being used to hit rugs (spelling correct? i dunno) - the places that sakura and sayoaran showed up in the xxxholic manga are not in the anime?

I dunno if this is a spoiler or not so be careful reading the next statements....

 unless i missed something while watching the anime, the parts of tsubasa that overlap are left out. For example - when sakura and sayoaran come through the ceiling to ask for Yuuko's help (the first time you meet them) and how come the whole part about Valentine's day and White day don't go together. In the manga - on V. day, Yuuko gives the Tsubasa cast a gift through black mokona and then tells them that they are required to give her a return gift by the end of the week because she didn't get anything for white day. She spends an entire chapter in the manga complaining about the lack of a gift. Also, at one point she is given an apple through white mokona, and there are multiple instances where watanuki walks in on her just talking to them or finishing up talking to them. Also, which may not have happened yet in the sequence - :oo:spoiler!:oo::oo: watanuki meets sakura in his dreams along with doumeki's grandfather.

Also..........mmmajjorr spoiler coming -

Kohane-chan, after a lot of drama with her mom, asks for a wish from Yuuko and gives up her powers. The powers are released as one of Sakura's memory feathers.

How come none of this is in the anime????????:dizzy::pissed:

B/c, other than slight references such as the ones you have already described and the short appearance of the Tsubasa group during the xxxHolic movie, they can't make it quite as intertwined as the manga, it has to do w/ available time and story continuity for each episode and the series as a whole, but I know what you mean, I read both manga's as well as watch xxxHolic on here, a few of the events are a little off for that matter, not enough to be an issue w/ the storyline but just enough to be noticeable if you read the manga's as well, but in the end, it comes to down to the simple question of "Does it really matter?" Are the missing elements that big of a deal that they ruin your enjoyment of the respective animes' or is it pretty much like any manga/anime set, they have their differences, usually a lot more prominent than here, it seems to me like xxxHolic doesn't differ that much from the manga unlike other animes where they tend to rewrite half the story when they produce the anime and never really finish

It may not matter, but it seems to me that in the manga Yuuko talks a lot about how the fate of Watanuki and the fate of Sakura and Sayoaran are intertwined. She even mentions once about how Watanuki is important in the fate of the other dimensions.

If that is true..then how come none of that is in there? Also, I have yet to watch Tsubasa, but quite a lot of what happens occurs because of wishes granted by Yuuko.

she made mention of how important watanuki is during the xxxHolic anime once or twice, and the way she talks I get the impression that either Watanuki will take over her store or will run one of his own similar to it, but I imagine that it was one thing to cross over the manga's b/c the ppl who usually buy those would be willing to buy two but the ppl who watch anime won't necessarily watch both at least not at the same time, maybe they'll do something in the anime where they go back and fill in all the blanks w/ the crossover material or maybe they'll become more intertwined towards the end of Kei or in a third season of xxxHolic, nothing to do but wait and see

I know about Tsubasa... It's so stupid! They escape that weird worl full of libraries in that magic cage in the manga and eventually meet the vampire twins :D
but in the anime they meet some guy made out of feathers...like the manga a bit better although I'm curious how the anime will develop...

yeah I'm kind of doing that too, I know the Tsubasa anime has finished or is almost finished, but I want to wait until the manga finishes before watching it, I made an exception on xxxHolic b/c I was bored one day and the xxxHolic anime hasn't caught up to the manga quite yet, although I think it will by the end of this month when the new volume is released, b/c they are at the point where they are starting to show new material not in the manga

I bet your problem w/ it is it's a little off beat compared to other anime, most anime's even in the super violent or depressing ones use a lot of color and vibrant style of life from the characters, but in xxxHolic it's all so subdued, the colors, the attitudes, except when Watanuki is flipping out over Himawari, it just seems so serious through so much of it, like they're trying to tell you something that will change the way you think, perceive and live your life

Wow..... thanks for the advice [???]

I'll keep that in mind the next time I watch it...
But yea, maybe it is the colors... 0_o

Off topic: Magic thinks its time for bed...... :moon: 0_o
