what is a soul mate ?? what is the real meaning to it ??
and do soul mates have to be lovers ....i mean is it ok for friends to be soul mates with out being homosexual ?? it is really confusing ...i mean is it ok if i called my best friend (girl) a soul mate ...or would that seem a little akward (by the way i'm hederosexual ^^;;;)

I would say a soul mate is that part of you.. the part you are missing! The part you wish you could be... the part you are destined to have! That feeling you can't grasp, but can touch and taste! That sensation in your body that you know and feel has to be real!.. you know, even if it is your best friend, even if its the same sex... Its what you believe and at the same time are drawn too! Something you are willing to stick with, til the very end if you choose it to be that way! to me thats what i believe a soul mate is!.. I hope you understand what type of person I'am talking about!

I suppose soul mate would be something more than love in a way. a spiritual bond of sorts. I find it rather interesting when people get married and fall in love and say that their significant other is the "one", when statistically speaking it's about as likely that you'll win the lottery that you'll find the one person in the world that is perfectly fitted to you. I guess that sounds like the words of a bitterly scorned man, but it leaves the thought open as to whether it's possible to love all things?

yup i do understan ^^ i always thank god every day that i found that person .. although she is my best friend (and no we are not gay she actually found the love of her life ) she understands me better than anyone and i would defenatly stick with her till the end she would do the same for me i'm sure of it ^^ that's y i was so confuesed thank you athrun and all of you guys for taking the time and replying to this post .... hope every body get to meet thier soul mate ....

i guess a soul mate is someone you can truly call your soul 'friend', in a sense. things like whether or not it's someone you will share your life with, and finish your sentences, etc., it's hard to say whether or not you'll find someone like that. however, i do believe that your soul mate is the friend with whom you can share all your thoughts, your heart, and who understands you and whom you understand the best. in essence, you could say that it's you best friend....only more.

gender doesnt matter, and i think romance doesnt count either, since i've known a few pairs of "soulmates" who arent romantically involved or are a couple.

This lead to man and women frantically looking for their other half to gain completion and wholeness...

Now...Do I believe that?
I believe there maybe someone out there for every person in the world yes..predestined 'soul mate'....no...But that could develop...
Develop into a soulmate...yes thats what I mean ...because people arnt set in stone...we change daily and develop based on interacting with the world around us and its interaction with us..(thats redundant)...

Now...is a soulmate someone who can finish your sentences, read you like book...see your eyes and know whats going on in your brain, not see them and it rips out yer heart?...yes...but not limited to because friends can do the same.....and friends can be friends only because you hold something in common with them..if not how can you hold a conversation? So in my opinion..theres no way to surly know....seeing the symptoms can be that of a great friend...cus a soul mate is a friend but a friend isnt necessarily a soul mate (apples to fruit as mango is to apple..)

But develop into one...its possible...and not forcible in my opinion
In my opinion time is conditional but all existing at once with us only being in one point at any given time...meaning we chose what to do and do things and it affects possible decisions further down....but we will make certain choices..but these choices arent persay destiny.. they are made of free will but they will happen...

So this means you cannot force the matter by saying "You are my soul mate..you will be it dang!! and you will like it!!" (as some have a knack of trying to change people...which is very bad relationship wise..)
But rather Im saying you develop together and eventually merge together and ,in my opinion, this only occurs in successful intimate relationships (where one is closer to the person in question and there are less walls and more openness) and so to speak grow and develop (and interact with each other thus aid in the development of each other)

I say allllllll of that to say..
Dont waste life trying to persue a soul mate..but dont dismiss something when it hits you as clear as daylight in the face (daylight hits what?)
Make your own decisions, keep an open mind and let your relationships and friendships flourish and I believe you can find your ' soul mate' one day
(and I use 'your' loosely because its not predestined IMO..nothing is...)

Now, this here is my original post, but just because this is 4 months old, I'm doing to update it. Mainly because I have more information to add to it:
