While the number is an overall small one in relation to the whole of the student body, it's still a significant number of students from one university arrested.
Do not discuss the legality/illegality of drugs, or their use, or their dangers. Drugs are not the topic of discussion here. This could have been any criminal enterprise, from bookmaking to loansharking to auto theft. Drugs are not the topic here.
Rather, the topic for discussion here is how these college students, with a seeming air of impunity, were able to establish an organized criminal organization on campus. I mean, they used a "mass text message" to advertise. And they were armed, as well. They even used fraternities as their base of operations.
When did Criminal Enterprise become a course curriculum?
In any event, they were saying on the televised news reports that more arrests are expected.

Actually, I'd have to say it's more surprising that this hasn't already been a subject of public inquiry into the fraternities before now, I don't have any problem w/ the frats like a lot of ppl seem to have, they are a great idea, and I think ppl go a little overboard trying to censor them and their activities when everyone at college(general statement) and not just the frats are doing the things they do, but in terms of this, it's really not a shock, you've got a group of 30-100+ ppl all together, all committed supposedly to one another as brothers, and no one thought they might make a halfway decent criminal syndicate before now? at the very least I could see frats as recruiting posts for the mob and radical extremist factions of both political and religious groups, if we were more interested in the frats and their ppl than in trying to get them all in trouble for a little bit of excessive partying(no I don't mean the drug ring) then maybe stuff like this would be less likely to happen but as long as the suspicion for the minor things runs rampant, no one is ever going to feel safe or justified in coming to a figure of authority to report on the potential for the larger things such as this happening

Stuff like this is natural in the college scene. It is the black market and what could be better to pay off some college fines? Everything you earn is pure profit. Heck if you do it right you could make a couple grand in an hour. So they find some marijuana, big deal! Do you guys know why marijuana was banned in the first place?? Because in the early 1900's the immigration from Mexico to California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas was overwhelming. The old whitey's in congress didn't like this at all, especially one particular asswipe from California who seemed to have it in for them but didn't want to make a big scene. So they noticed almost all of the Mexican immigrants smoked marijuana and they banned it from the US thinking that the flow of people would stop. WRONG!! It continued and is still going on today, and now billions of taxpayer dollars are going to finding marijuana, jailing people for smoking and distributing weed, and trying to stop an impossible thing from being transported in or grown on US soil, instead of going into helping the poor, feeding the hungry, and helping out humanity. And another reason it was banned again in the 60's is because hemp was found to be very very useful, a staple product that can make everything from clothes to milk to glue, and the big farm companies and the massive cotton industry saw a huge threat to their profit marjin and convinced Congress to once again ban something that's accpeted world wide. So I say, get over it, prioritize what needs to be, and STOP WASTING MY DAM MONEY I WORK HARD FOR TO FUND SOMETHING VERY WORTHLESS. All the other drugs they found? Bad bad bad bad!!! Never do!!! Ruins lives it does!!!

ehh I don't think the marijuana is so bad, I don't smoke it, but it doesn't seem as much of a problem, except for that guy in CA who got caught shipping it through UPS, now that was hilarious, why pay drug mules and dealers when you can grow it, cut it, and then see what brown can do for you

LOL!! Thats just plain stupid. Why use a major shipping company for that! Just use carriers. It'll be safer.
