Why do we fret on all the mundane things that plague our every day exhistance like so much proverbial house flies. Nothing we do makes much of a difference, with no supernatural entity watching over your every move the only significance that you can glean from this pitiful existence is that which you can give unto yourself.
Ignore those that seek to hold you back from full filling your own dreams, loved ones, enemies and friends. Seek out your true meaning and purpose in life, if those that you think love you truly care for you, then they will come along. Or wait for your return. Nothing can stand in your way unless you let it.
I understand that perhaps this all sounds like the crap you hear when your young and from your parents. But every single word is absolutely true, you meet many decent people following along the same road as you, kind unselfish ones. Life has a habit of making way for those that are willing to pursue what they desire. Now that does not mean that everything you do will succeed, you will fail, and by god you will fail hard. But at least you can sit down and say to yourself, "hey man at least I tried" If you do that you will never regret anything that could have been. So open that business, take that class, and ask that girl out on a date. Who cares if you fail? Just pick yourself up and throw yourself once again body and mind into the wind.
So Hoist the sails, raise the anchor, and bring me that horizon. Hang the consequences. Most of all, pursue your own dreams to the fullest, you have one life to live, might as well make the most of it.

now I wasn't going to post in here but I felt the need to respond to Koopa's post, don't regret Koopa, don't ever regret, look around you, ppl who cling to regrets about things they missed end up as lonely bitter old alcoholics usually w/ too many cats and not enough friends, the key is to wish you had done something differently but accept things in the past the way they are, and try harder not to miss out on any opportunities in the future, that way, even if none of those grand idea's comes to fruition for you, at least you can say you tried and tried everything and can live your life w/o regrets

I hate life and dreams are pointless!!! If I could I would wipe out 99.99% of the population including me!! There's my dream for you!! Dreams are for the young who have no wisdom. All they have is massive useless knowledge shoved into their brains since they were young and when they finally grow up and are thrown into the world, most of the time they collapse on themselves and try to hide their fear of the real world by dreaming!!!!! And the whole entire system makes them selfish and petty!! Screw dreams, screw hopes, screw life!! DIE!!!

To me without dreams there is really no point in life. The more I think about something the more I want to accomplish that even if its impossible. I am a risk taker. Even if it involves me getting hurt or even killed I will not hesitate to let anything stand in the way of my dreams.

Well yea, of course I wasn't going to die if I were going to do that. I would have humanity start over except we keep all the current knowledge and go from there.

If you may excuse me playing The Devil's Advocate here;
I'd like to point out the things I am confused with.
You make the point that we need to strive, and that, quote, "Life has a habit of making way for those that are willing to pursue what they desire." But a few sentences later you say we will fail. Sure, it may be sometimes, but at some point you'll end up failing worse than Nixon's presidential career, or turn out to be another Gundam SD.
I don't understand what the point of striving to fail is, if we are supposed to learn from our mistakes so we can succeed, why should we shrug off failing only to throw ourselves willy-nilly into life? As humans, we constantly strive for that perfection in every aspect, so failing over and over again and having the 'At least I tried' feeling doesn't sound like something I would want.
Finally, with one life to live, living it recklessly and ditching the consequences doesn't sound bright. Once you die, that seems like it. No second chances.
Of course, maybe I am misinterpreting what your message is, may I ask for some insight?

Do you know why we fall down when were little babies trying walk? So we could learn how to get back up. Failing is a part of life and so is succeeding. People need to learn how to fall and how to get back up otherwise we would never get anything done. Sure theres some rare people (genius's) that seem like they never fall but you know what happens when they do fall? They fall hard and deep and they don't know how to get out. That is a weakness. I think it has to do with gravity. There is always a chance to fail. Also, thinking to much can actually stagnate you. Sometimes you have to be reckless and take that chance because you'll never know what might happen if you don't and a lot of the times an opportunity is only open for a short period of time.

I have done much deliberation on this subject, and haev come to the conclusion ignorance really is bliss at times, but it cannot create you a future.

it would suck if a girl's dream was to be a hooker and she thought this way.
but otherwise, that's the best personality a person can have.

Some of what Ive read I agree with and some I do not...
But I have to say what Corwin said is true...
Living life with regret and clinging on what 'could have been' and but rather with what is and what you are doing now and will works towards...
Looking back serves no purpose other than to learn from the mistakes ..
Personally I wouldnt change anything Ive done...not because I think Im a great person..but because those mistakes taught me things which I may not have learnt otherwise and so I can try help others from making the same mistakes and try and to help them help themselves..
Another reason why one shouldnt look back is irregardless of how long you look back wishing to change something or for 'the good old days'....you cant go back
(even if you could you couldnt go back or thatd be paradoxical..but thats off topic..)
So all one can do is pick yourself up, as Lee said...and just keep on walking...
while watching out for the pitfalls along the way..

wow, gone for a week and what happens? All my old posts come back with renewed vigor. Acid you are right, your completely missing the point. When I stated that you would fail I was absolutely right, failure is just another part of what makes life grand, the power to learn from our mistakes by taking a shot at something we wouldnt have before. So you failed worse than Nixons presidency, but there is equal oppurtunity that he could have been another Roosavelt. In addition he had the passion and courage, yes courage, to strive for the Presidency in the first place. And whether or not you were a good leader or a bad one, you still deserve kuddos for being able to climb your way to the top.
The point is not to exactly strive to fail, you go out in pursuit of success, and you do not allow your failures to hold you back. Learn from your mistakes buddy, its the only way you could ever achieve perfection.
If you allow the possibility of failure to stop you from pursuing whatever interests you in life, then you deserve to have no life. Failure is by no means a gurantee, you will fail eventually, that is true, but success is also an equal possibility. Never let what might happen stand in the way of what you truly want, as the old saying goes "Its better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all" and those words never rang truer than at this moment.

Without more information I cant really help you Athrun, but if what you quoted was any reference then you left someone behind in your pursuit of a dream. If she is unable to accept that you have dreams, and intend to pursue them then she is not the right person for you. Regardless of how you feel about her, she just isnt the one. As Noodle counseled me when I was recovering from getting shot down, "Relax man, theres plenty of vaginas in the sea." And by god he was absolutely right, not only do I now have the experiance of what I did wrong, I was able to make myself noticed to the girl I was talking to. If I had given up before I even tried who knows what would have happened, but I would be alot less of a person now than If i had given it a shot.

Everyone has regret becuase nobody lives a perfect life all the time. But those that can let the regret go and forgive themselves can live their lives better.
