scariest game in existence?

what do you guys thing the scariest game ever is? i haven't really played alot of scary games, but i've heard alot of people say that the silent hill series is the scariest. what do you think?

Yeah Silent Hill is scary as hell. But I think an honourable mention for scariest game ever goes to Count Chocula's Cathedral Quest.

definatly silent hill for the scariest game but the one that startled me the most was Residant evil 2 you need to watch out for the hands!

Silent Hill is definitely one of the scariest if not the scariest, but Fatal Frame is a very creepy game too, and I"m surprised it hasn't received a mention yet, it was definitely a great game for suspense and scaring the crap out of you when playing in the dark by yourself

I never found a game scary.
But F.E.A.R wasn't bad. Doom 3 only is scary because it's dark. Resident evil only scared me when I was 8 ... thats about it ^^

Only 2 games that ever scared me were RE1 and Condemned. I watched my brother play it all the way through in one night and he made sure the lights were off while playing. Scary stuff. Condemned was just kinda scary.

Resident Evil (the one for game cube, cuz im not used to game cube controls, making it harder to navigate, therefore harder to think/act under pressure...it was so bad) and Fatal Frame. Never played Silent hill =/.

I remember when I was first playing resident evil, the tv was kinda shitty, so all the semi dark parts were pitch black. I had no idea what the hell was going on, and every now and again one of those hunters would just jump out of nowhere and lop my head off. It was never the same when I got a good tv that actually showed the rooms.
silent hill is a def, more creepy then scary tho.

Resident Evil 4 wins in my book... ive been gaming all my life and some of them creatures poping up out of nowhere still freak me out... more because they pop out of nowhere than them being ugly

eternal darkness 4 gamecube was kinda scary if u played it at night damn that isanity meter!!!!!!!

clock tower 3 was also a scary game but also very fun

I loved Clock Tower and Parasite Eve. There is also this other game where you kill ghosts using a magical camera. The game play was cheesy but the scariness was top notch.

when i was younger it was resi evil for the scare factor. i think they kind of dropped the ball with number 4. it was a brilliant game, but it wasn't really that scary...

that game Leerock was Fatal Frame 1 & 2, as for Eternal Darkness I can't believe I forgot that one, I loved that game it's great, I remember picking that up on my vacation and playing it in the hotel room

heheh i've not really played any proper scary games (i'm one of those deprived kids without a console, see), but i've heard that Fatal Frame and Silent Hill are scary as heck..

although surprisingly, the one game that gave me the willies was Half-Life 1.... back in '99, when I played it with the lights off, with headphones (when I was supposed to be in bed), the beginning freaked me out cos u'd hear random screams in the distance, and the *&^! zombies lurking around. sorry Gordon Freeman hahah.
love scary movies tho. especially the Japanese and Korean ones.

The Suffering and F.E.A.R are very good too.

Any game that stars Barbie.... Hugo's house of horrors..... J/K Silent hill was an awesome one, Doom 3 was ok, parasite Eve was ok too, Serious Sam was cool. I don't think there has been a very scary game yet tho.

ok silent hill gave my older brother nightmares for a month straight.

but the only game i remember playing that was scary was about a year ago. its called Haunting Ground. i barely made it to the middle of the game because i wouldn't play it unless my bf was in the room with me and the lights were on. its one of the games where the volume has to be on. shit im still kinda freaked when my bf makes the sound of the grounds keeper when hes looking for you. that game is so freaking scary you actually have to hide under the bed to survive in it.

The first Silent Hill, gave me nightmares as kid though I only watched while others played^^
F.E.A.R and Condemned manages to make me jump out of my seat every time.

Manhunt is... scary, and just down right sick. Well, I found it scary, but that was ages ago. Probably the scariest game I've played was Resident Evil 1 remake on the GameCube. :O

Silent Hill was pretty creepy. I remember playing it and thinking, you know, I really don't wanna open this door. I can hear what's on the other side. Do I really wanna open this door? No, I really don't wanna open this door.


Other than that, Siren: Blood Curse was pretty good, but it seemed to pretty much be a Silent Hill ripoff.

Thinking about it, Bioshock was a little scary as well. Something about genetically engineered humans dragging around large wrenches and singing "Jesus loves me this I know/Because God told me so" is just a wee bit freaky.
