I listen to all forms of music except country. Even though its kindof hard for me to decide between alternative rock and rap I'd have to choose alternative rock. Because rap is losing its purity fast(thanks to all the idiotic music artist that come up with songs like "soldier boy".) but atleast there are some rappers with sense enough not to put "booty booty booty" in their lyrics.

there's some pretty dumb and unwholesome folk playing rock music. and just the same listening to it. their "skill" isn't much more than what any rock verse would be, it's just up tempo'd and often on a different topic. rappers go on about money and cars, but so do rock stars....
also to those who hate country, you should thank your stars for it because without it you wouldn't even have rock and roll. rock is to country as christianity is to judaism. there's good music for most every genre if your willing to turn off mtv and the radio to find it. hunt outside the designated area and you might find something you didn't realize you liked.

Dats only some rap theirs plenty of great rappers that spit knowledge but anyone who watch t.v or listen to the radio knows that sex sells and that no one want to hear about being educated. And beside all alternative rock is overly sensative guys singing about the same thing as the rappers just in a less blunt way nonetheless it still comes down to sex and money. Outside of that Im a huge 80's rap and hip hop fan also punk and heavy metal fan

Like they are comparable? Rap lacks a key ingredient in music: Melody. Technically speaking, Mary Had a Little Lamb is more musically intricate then rap.

Now rock, rock is just awesome. Rock also has a long histroy with Great names: Rush, Van Halen, AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the list is never ending.

This is one thing i found out naught long ago. When an old rock song comes up, people usually turn up the stereo. When an old rap song comes on the radio, most of the tome it's "Nah man, that's old stuff..." It looks as though rap is a trend, dependent on new artists to keep it alive; much like a vampire.

I may be bias to rock, but I do love the Sugar Hill Gang and my Beastie Boys.
