Past Memories

Time stood still as Arcose and Emily kissed one another under the waterfalls. Cold water splashed upon the sides of their faces as they embraced one another. The sound of rocks shifted from inside the cave and both of them stopped and stared through the transparent water. Something stood in the darkness and they knew it stared right back. Emily and Arcose’s skin crawled in fear and they backed away slowly. Birds and insects became silent as the being stumbled closer.
It was a female. Her long turquoise colored hair followed her from behind as she grinned; showing her fangs as saliva dripped onto her delicate chin, her eyes glowing a metallic purple. Emily screamed and the woman pounced through the waterfall, splashing the water aside. She attacked and bit into Emily’s neck as blood poured from the wound. Arcose screamed with anger and threw a punch, but the woman blocked it with her right, clawed hand and shoved him to the side. He hit the rock cliff and was unconscious. The woman tore Emily apart from the shoulder sockets and devoured her body whole. Emily’s blood splattered from the woman’s lips and she threw Emily’s arms to the ground. She eyed Arcose and walked towards him; licking her lips and her hand. She, then, picked him up off the ground and sniffed him near the nape of his neck. She could smell his cologne. Taking a bite into his neck, she mixed her blood with his and a moment later, she tossed him into the river once she was finished.

The woman stared at him as he floated on his back down the riverbed and whispered aloud, “Remember my name. My name is Wo Kurai, you filthy bastard….”

Her name echoed into the silence as she leapt up and out of sight. Arcose kept on floating when he woke up several hours later. He choked on the water and struggled to get on his feet. Once he was one his feet, he walked solemnly to the side of the river and got out. Water dripped from his clothes as he stumbled to his hands and knees; pounding on the ground with his right fist. He glanced down at his sides; they were bleeding. He must have hit a rock. Arcose slowly got up and yelled into the air. Birds scattered into the sky and flew away.
