I don't remember if there was another post for this, I think there was but frankly I was feeling too lazy at the moment to look, well they released more info about the movie, so here it is:

**Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies will release M. Night Shyamalan's live-action bigscreen adaptation of the popular animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" on July 2, 2010.Studio has dropped "Avatar" from the title of the action-adventure so as to avoid confusion with James Cameron's 3-D epic "Avatar," which 20th Century Fox opens Dec. 18, 2009.
"Airbender" is the first pic to claim that date.
The creators of the Nick TV series were heavily influenced by Japanese anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. Storyline revolves around a young hero who has the ability to manipulate the elements and stop a ruthless nation from destroying the three other nations.
Shyamalan, who will direct from a script he penned, said Miyazaki is one of the greatest storytellers in the world. "In 'The Last Airbender,' I see an opportunity to make a live-action version of a Miyazaki film," Shyamalan said.
Shyamalan is next in theaters with Fox's "The Happening," which opens June 13.

Avatar is quite a good series and all but... This sounds horrible. It's like on of those things which will ruin an good anime you know?

A movie I can understand... But live action?

lol i dont know about that, I am excited that avatar is going to become a movie and I'll probably go see it, but the live action part sounds a bit iffy. Because, like Godde said, it may ruin the entire show like some live action anime based movies have done before. So i guess we'll have to wait and see but I am excited to see how it turns out ^^

I think the only thing it has going for it that may redeem the live action is the fact that M Night Shyamalan is the one doing the film, his past films have been a lot of fun to watch so maybe this one will be too, we can only hope
