thers a man in central america that believes himself an artist. he own his own gallery. what the petition is for is to prevent him from going to a well known art show and reenacting one of his "masterpieces". this "masterpiece" was of him getting a stray dog, tying it to a post in his gallery and leaving it to die of starvation. people walked bye and watched this dog slowly die, and did nothing to help. please help prevent it from happening again.

Hm, you can pretty much pass anything off as art nowadays, but this is taking it a bit too far.

I don't meen to rain on everybody's parade but wasn't it already found out that the animal he grabbed was a mut off the street that was already starving, and that the animal was feed but only when people weren't around.

no that wasnt proven. and just because you take a dog off the street doesnt mean you shouldnt feed it. at least if its on the street it can at least dig in garbage to find food. if you tie it up and dont feed it then it doesnt have a chance in hell. and no it wasnt givin food...AT ALL!!!!!

the animal your thinking of was from a previous person doing it.im not sure what his name was but what he did was wrong to. as far as i know that animal didnt die. but this one did

Well if you do find a stray animal... You don't really take it to an art exhibition to be presented... Like... Well... A dog. I mean, yeah you can't really understand dogs but imagine being put in a completely different environment, and being stared at by complete strangers. And if you do find stray animals, you should contact some form of authorities.

Animals may not look and talk like humans but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated just as well. Animals should be treated just as nicely as humans. Sure there are homeless people out there and stray animals and no one helps them, but that doesn't mean that we who are much more lucky then they are, should put them on display as "art". If the animal was starving and about to die, that just means you should contact the local animal shelter and get it back to health, not ignore it and let it die.

Not trying to pick a fight, thats just voicing my opinion.

Though art is different in everyone's eyes, this is NOT art. It's cruelty. --Signed--

I disagree with everyone here. I've said this before and i'll gladly say it again, this is art. (keep in mind art is an extremely vague word. Art is in the eyes of the beholder. What some would call a masterpiece others might call disgusting and unruly) It's poetic and it works. It gave you all feeling. It made you depressed, it made you notice.

"The purpose of the work was not to cause any type of infliction on the poor, innocent creature, but rather to illustrate a point. In my home city of San Jose, Costa Rica, tens of thousands of stray dogs starve and die of illness each year in the streets and no one pays them a second thought."

I will not be signing the petition.

also, i'd like to add that the dog was already starved when they brought him from the street. Better to die on the streets alone or in an exhibit where you can possibly speak for your fellow canines

Are you an idiot or just unfathomably close minded?

Have any of you read about the artist?

I saw this once before already and I didn't sign. no because I think what went down was right, because in the end it was a poor execution on the artist behalf, but because teh point he made left me unable to place myself in such a position to be a part of either side. both sides are disgusting in my opinion. First off the greater majority of people I can easily tell didn't bother to read up on everything about this "artistic"(loose term here) endeavour. Firstly 1,000,000 already quoted the main point, dogs (and people) die like this all the time while people like us just walk by and do nothing. the people who attended the show proved that undoubtedly. the artist himself was quoted at the end of the show on how all those who attended did nothing for the dog. And that the dog was taken from the street and died the next day, something that shows that the dog was on the brink of death to begin with, not that it was in the peak of health when they unheartedly tied it to a wall. signing a petition isn't going to rid all the strife and death that's happening right now, at best you'll save one dog from dying at this exhibit. which is good! but how often do you pass by homeless dogs, cats, people and can't spare time. maybe you stop every now and again and offer what you can, but has it ever dragged on with you. have you ever shooed away a rat or a bug that was just trying to find something to eat? they're just as living and deserving as that dog. The better thing to do than to sign a petition and hope somebody else does something with that petition so that maybe they'll consider not doing it again after you've forgot about it or put it in the recesses of your memory, is to change your attitude and try to help the world with your own two hands rather than with your lost signature.
