First Kiss
Riion and Seiya stared at one another; her wings flapping to stay afloat. The gases from the broken pipes swirled toward her forming a ball. It swirled in the midst of the air as Seiya looked up and saw Nite. Nite nodded with his approval of what is to come next, then she looked back at Riion who was helpless.
“Die!!”
The ball flew forward, but Riion dodged it. It hit the wall behind him and the wall cracked around a huge hole. The crack slid upward toward the loft where the doctors sat and watched. Nite and the doctors lost their balance, but quickly gained control of themselves. The glass in front of them shook from the impact. Riion took another step toward Seiya.
“Saki, you need to come back! Can’t you hear me?” cried Riion with desperation.
Riion took one step closer, taking in deep breathes as he went. Once he reached her, he placed his hands on either side of her waist and stared into her eyes. She screamed with frustration, but she let him touch her.
“Saki….” Riion whispered.
He leaned up to her lips and they gently kissed. Time stood still for the first time as a Seiya started to glow a brilliant yellow. A stream of light swirled in wide circles around them. Nite watched with curiosity as her wings became gray and feathery; her hair turning back to red.
“Riion,” Saki sighed with relief, “You came for me.”
“Come on. Let’s get you out of here.”
Riion took ahold of Saki’s wrist and they ran out of the room. Once out, Saki grabbed Riion from under the arms and they took flight. Up the spiral, black steel staircase they went, picking up some agility. Their hair flowing with the wind, Seiya’s entangling them together.
“Cover your head.”
“Why?”
“Just do it…. Nagareboshi!”
A sound similar to a racing car was heard just then. Stars started to form a funnel cloud from underneath them and flew upward. The stars slammed against the ceiling and continued to slam open the upper floors. Debree from the pastel white plaster and gray, pale, yellow dust particles surrounded them. Saki and Riion flew through the openings and into the glistening morning sky, which was made up of lavender and cherry blossom pink cirrus clouds.
They flew toward Central Park where it all began and sat under a weeping willow tree that was blowing in the chilly breeze. Birds sang their songs brilliantly as the morning sun rose to brighten the mood of the day. Seiya’s wings folded up close to her body as she looked at Riion. She barely touched her lips with her fingertips and remembered the kiss; her first kiss. The voice from inside her was gone for now and she was glad. They sat in silence for the longest time just thinking of what just happened to them. If Riion hadn’t of kissed her, would he be dead right now? Saki asked herself.
