i respect them but i dont like them. there to long winded for my tastes. i like detail but not half a chapter about 5 min of walking through the forest. i should say that i liked them up untill i tried to end return of the king and it just kept going on and on.

Well I love all four of the series you already listed Rob, although I haven't bought the last book of Sword of Truth yet, haven't had the money, also I love the Elenium and Tamuli sets by Eddings, and Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series and I'm a big fan of Anne McCaffery's Pern series, Terry Brooks' Knight of the Word set and his Landover/Magic Kingdom For Sale series, as well as a couple others I can't think of right now

Lord of the Rings was good, Lawhead's Albion was good, I like Narnia, of Pern the trilogy and Dragon's Dawn. scifi just about anything David Brin wrote. *checks bookshelves* Sword of Truth, even though Goodkind is rather repetitive. and His Dark Materials trilogy by Pullman was excellent.

Lord of the Rings trilogy was good as was the Hobbit, they were just long winded, much like reading Stephen King novels, they're good they just take too long, and it seemed redundant to mention them since they happen to be the second most well known fantasy books in history

yes that's one series that I forgot to include, I remember when they first came out I didn't think too highly of them, but after hearing all the hype and such surrounding the release of book 3, I finally went out and bought the first two in paperback, nice and cheap and if I didn't like them I could always give them to the library, but I was pleasantly surprised, they were a nice change from tolkein, king, and jordan, and they turned out to be rather addictive, I remember sitting outside bookstores for the midnight releases of books 5-7 b/c they were good, I kind of wish two or three more things were explained at the end of book 7, but it turned out to be a really good series

well mostly the careers, and what happened to everyone at the end, they point out what is going on w/ Harry and Ginny, Draco, Ron and Hermione, but they don't say what happened to the surviving twin, what careers they chose, how Harry's family took it, what happened to the school after the giant battle, who is running it

yaaa that the question that i had too of what happened to some of the people...i think that the shocking part (kinda) was where they tell about Prof.Sanpe's life...and the coolest part were the last 4 chapters

PS i know this is not the right place to discuss this stuff

the Bible is the most well known fantasy book in history, and no this is not meant to provoke religious arguments or declarations of faith, just answering the question, any posts expounding on religious beliefs or philosophies will be deleted as they can be considered inflammatory and a really bad idea

mine would have to be the magic kingdom for sale- sold! by terry brooks. its about this millionaire who buys a magical kingdom for a million dollars. when he gets to the magical kingdom, he becomes king to a land that is dying. so his job is to create allies with the other kingdoms and to restore the land to peace.
its really good you'd like it

My favourite book series is Warriors by Erin Hunter! It's a children's series (like Harry Potter) but I can't think of an argument to say it's good for adults too, besides that I'm not a kid. Some scenes are pretty intense, and the characters die a lot. The authors aren't shy about the characters convulsing in a pool of blood as they die, either. When you read it, it doesn't seem childish at all.
If I told you the plot, you'd laugh at me. =d
It's sort of like a series of series.. well in total there are 15 books out, not including the side manga and the guide book.

I also like the Dragon Jousters series by Mercedes Lackey. I'ven't read the 4th book yet though.

I can't say I've even read any other series besides those. Not even Harry Potter..! And I call myself a book lover.. ^^;

I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, but I don't really want to read the last one. At all. My favorite is a trilogy by Anne Bishop, "The Black Jewels Trilogy." It's a very good plot and it's well written, but not to the point that it's hard to understand. And, her characters are just superb!

I know, I can't wait until the last book comes out. XD
This is like one of the series I didn't want to ever end. Just have it go on forever...until I get bored, then it can end.

lets see the probable endings for each then...I love it to Harry Potter.

The surviving twin which I remember to be the one with a missing ear is Fred who'll probably continue with the shop.

Neville ran the school I think but time gap withing Snape and Neville I dunno.

The careers are probably their hoped ones.....but really Harry had many children with Ginny.....must be cause of the Weasley influence.

But better read again...might find clues.

I am going to say the Space Odyssey series by Arthur C. Clarke (RIP).

Though the series ends very weak, all the books up to the last one are just truly an amazing journey that I wish I could take ever day.
