That's right, a blog on Sega's website confirms that they are making a new sonic game, and it WILL be just like the original.
What do I mean by that? That means 2-D only gameplay, Sonic as the only playable character and a lack of appearences from other characters such as Big the Cat. Holy crap, maybe sega did learn!
What platform will it be on though? It'd be hard to make a full fledged 360/PS3 title on 2-D titles, and they have never existed in the platforms save for the recent Street Fighter 4 and downloadable games. So, first estimate goes to the Wii, which actually has had success on full 2-D games on an actual disk. It would also make sense to make it a Nintendo platform since Sonic sees the most success on them.
Of course, it could also be a downloadable game, which makes it possible and likely to be on the 360 and PS3. Let's hope it's good.

Don't be a slowpoke, Quiet. Angels don't wait for slowpokes.
Well, it's not that old, but I already got this information elsewhere.
Anyway, I do hope Tails is in it, but thank jebus for those other shitfaces not being in the game. Of course, despite the niceness of it being 2D and starring only Sonic, there's still another problem. They said it focuses on speed. They said nothing about platforming. If there's no platforming, it won't be like the older games.

They released the teaser trailer for this game all the way back in September, quite late to the party indeed.
I'd like to be optimistic about this but that's just foolish. Sonic Team are never to be trusted again. I'm not hoping for anything until they show real gameplay.

And I just beat that game last night! So good!

The character countdown just ended shortly before Quiet posted this, like only half a day before or something. This isn't just about that old trailer, but also about the confirmation of a Sonic-only game.

Sega finally learned: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Don't bet on it. People said the same thing about Unleashed when that was still being made, and look at the pile of shit we got out of that.
Sega generally finds some way to be disappointing.

more than likely it will be a download for all three systems
at least that would be the smart thing to do so you can reach as many people as possible.

It's a hopeful chance on a re-vamp to the Sonic Party. But judging from past SEGA games it will most likely end up a failure.
