A rumor has started out recently about Nintendo announcing a price drop to their Wii console. After 3 years the Wii is the only current generation console to have not had a price drop or have multiple models made of. Selling at it's original price of $250, it swept past the more complex and more powerful PS3 and 360 consoles in every market, though the problems since the Gamecube are still lingering, as third party games struggle to sell and quality hard to find outside of Nintendo's first party games.

With this, sales are starting to drop, and now with a PS3 with a VERY competitive price of $300, Nintendo needs to continue ground.

So, do you think that this price drop will help Nintendo out any? Or will they soon slip behind one of the other companies?

People will keep buying Wiis anyways because they have made it so casual at this point the Wii is just like some toy. I haven't touched my Wii in months, and I probably won't until next year when Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M come out. New Super Mario Bros. is a maybe.

As for the price drop, although Nintendo has gone a bit casual, they still know how to make good business. I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner in fact. Now that the other guys have lowered their prices too, Nintendo would be foolish not to do so as well. I'm not sure whether or not Nintendo will be ousted as leader from this, they do have a pretty comfortable lead - but time shall tell.

Pfft, Nintendo doesn't need to do a price drop. The Wii will keep selling like hotcakes and they know it. But if they do a price drop anyway, it'll sell even more like hotcakes. Nintendo wins at sales no matter what, even if they lose in quality.

Target has put out an advertisement too for the wii getting a price drop, which means this rumor might be a bit more valid. We'll see if more stores announce price drops.

Wii needs a pricedrop because I don't want to spend a lot of money for a system that sucks
