The nightmares

I am afraid to close my eyes when the sun goes down
And the moon and stars come out to play
They taunt and laugh at me because they know I'm to weak
To keep my eyes open
And I fall into a deep sleep
Then the nightmares come
All around me shrieking are the souls of the ones I love the most
Crying out to me "Help me, someone save me!"
I can't think clearly and I can't help but cry
The Images are too strong and I am to weak
"Take your life and they will be set free" says a voice I recognize
From my childhood
A voice that has killed my soul and has sent me to live my life in fear and pain
Hoping for more, but always getting less and less
Then just as I lose the last bit of hope that has kept me alive
A light comes out of the darkness
Holding out a hand
Asking me to take it so it can pull me out..........
But.....I can't............I'm to scared.....
Scared that I might taint the pure light with the evil born within me
So I drop my hand
And I let the darkness surround me
The darkness takes me
My nightmare is my reality.............
