By that I mean what show got you into anime, what show forced you to crave gigantic eyes and over the top emotional reactions???

Not necessarily those things but Japanese media in general.

My first was Robotech. It changed my life. I remember being 5 years old and watching Robotech tapes my uncle made from years back.

Since then I searched libraries for manga and old tapes of other anime. Then the internet...JACKPOT!!!

Grandizer!!! I used to watch it with Arabic dups, it wasn't as aweful as nowadays dups.

Inuyasha is the one that got me into anime, although I've been watching anime before that as kid (CCS and Pokemon) but I wasn't aware that they were anime so I guess those don't count.

Well, The FIRST that I remember was Voltron,then Robotech........didn't know that it was Anime then....been loving it ever since!

what got me in to it was Vampire Hunter D when i was about 5/6 not sure why my parents ever let me watch it at that age rofl back when it was on good old vhs. but yet it still can't really be beaten as it is really amazing.

Can I say Pokemon? Aha, if not, I say it was most likely Inuyasha or Bleach.

The show that got me into anime with a burning passion was Inuyasha, I loved how Anime wwere executed, a long continuous chain with the endings of each episode left me with a burning desire to see what would happen next!

At that point I was like "This is so much better than those disjointed cartoons which must always end the problem of the plot by the end of the episode, which leaves little time for actual plot development, while anime takes its time to get the plot developed and to develop and establish each of the characters, who they are and how they act and live"

at that point, I stopped watching cartoons and only watched anime along with Mainframe's series, which also kick ass, for example, Reboot, Beast Wars and Beat Machines!

Anyhoo, I gotta end this long group of text before it bores someone so, that explains my first anime that got me into anime in the first place.

I didn't really get into anime until 4 years ago. I did see bits and pieces of anime, but as a little kid, it never stuck.

Now the one that did suck me in 4 years ago was, of all animes, Elfen Lied. lol, imagine that. A 11 year old kid watching Elfen Lied and falling in love with it.

Since than, I'm currently watching my 122ed anime (called Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity- if you're wondering).
I also read somewhere over 105 mangas.

Well, ever since i was a lilttle kid, we've had cable. I had no restrictions. I could watch what ever I wanted. And still can. And there was this show(I saw it as a cartoon)on showtime, and it would come on around nine at night. At the time, I didn't know it was anime but I really liked it, thus, I wanted more, and I searched, and discoverd. Story of my life.
This anime was called... I can't remember, but if you say it, I would know.
