Hey, this is quietchat here continuing to bring you the gaming news straight from E3. It's the second day of the event, and the day that the E3 doors are officially open, but first is the conference from Nintendo, and later Sony.

Nintendo has continued to be a giant in the gaming industry, despite that their console has had people coining the term "Kiddy system" furiously. The wii and Ds however continue to sell incredible numbers, both the wii and Ds, as well as taking strong software sales across the board. The games coming out for the system are getting lackluster, and Nintendo's few new games coming out aren't enough to satisfy gamers. Not only that, but they had a poor showing at last year's E3. People want and demand new games for the wii that will satisfy the core market. Nintendo has created some of the worlds biggest franchises, but with a number of them already having their turn on the wii, will they use the franchises that remain to try and get back to the core gamers? Or will it be another lackluster year for Nintendo? Like the other conferences I'm typing this up live as the event goes on, it is currently 48 minutes until the conference starts.

Hey, the conference has just started. A trailer comes up on screen, showing people and games, and some odd lines being drawn onto the screen as text pops up where the loops were being drawn. Cammie Dunaway, Vice President of Marketing (Of Nintendo America I'm guessing) is up on stage as the trailer ends. Like the last few years, they start talking stats. They aren't talking personal stats though, it's about stats of the whole industry. She's going cryptic. What the? She's saying new innovation on game control. Does Nintendo have something planned?

A short trailer starts, showing short clips of great mario games since the NES. Cammie hints about moving mario into the 4th dimension. She announces a new Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. Bill Trennant comes up on stage to talk about the game while some other people come up on the stage to demonstrate the game. Holy crap! It's literally super mario brothers, but it's 4 player. You can pick up other players and throw them. People who lose a life come back in a bubble. You can compete against each other or be co-operativly. But this looks alot like New Super Mario Brothers on the DS, the sprites included. Does this need to be on the wii? The characters one screen are Mario, Luigi, a blue toad, and a gold toad with a propeller on his head. Wait, is that a power-up? Yup, it's the propeller suit. This game is announced to be released for the holidays this year.

Cammie comes back up on stage, talking about people who have never played games before they got on the wii balance board, and stats that it's been a number one selling game. However people are considering taking it as it's own console as it's sold 15 million. They are talking about making it more attractive to the whole family. They announce Wii Fit Plus, which is going to be a personalized fitness program. I think so far I'd stick with the other fitness game I saw at the EA conference. New stuff for wii fit, released fall 2009.

Reggie Fils-Ami, president of Nintendo America comes up on stage. He starts talking about the Wiimote, the numchuck, and then going to talking about the wii motion plus (maybe they were talking about that when they started talking about innovation). He says that the wii motion plus ads a new level of precision control. They start up a trailer, a person playing ping pong, another playing basketball, the next using a sword and cudding a bamboo stick. The idea is that everything that happens is precise, exact, every motion and gesture captured on screen. There's a look at Wii Sports Resort in the middle of this. It's an interesting trailer, but its just a trailer. So they welcome back Bill Trennant on stage.

He starts talking with the wii motion plus, and he starts by showing off the sky diving in wii motion plus. A holographic wiimote shows up on screen to show that the mii that's diving is moving exactly how he movies the wiimote. Wait, why did 50 people have to sky dive onto the island to get to it? The next demonstration is of the archery in the game, showing how he controls it and how the game adjusts depending on the motions you make. Bill calls Reggie on stage to help him demonstrate three point in basketball. Reggie wins, and takes the stage again. He starts talking about how other companies are using the Wii Motion Plus, like EA's Tiger Woods, Grand Slam Wii, and Sega's Virtual Tennis 2009, and that they will all be packaged with the wii motion plus. Red Steel 2 requires the Wii Motion Plus to play, and they said in the Ubisoft conference that the motion plus will be packaged with the game.

Next, he starts talking about different genre of games, beginning with RPG's. Square Enix is named with the final fantasy franchise. A trailer begins, shhowing off planes, real time guns, swinging stuff exploding, chocobo riding. This must be Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals: The Crystal Bearers. He also mentions the new Kingdom Hearts for the DS, with a trailer. It shows people of orginization XIII on the starting island from the first game. It looks like the game will revolve largely around Roxis, and he continues to wear his outfit for the organization.

Next, Bowser comes up on screen. Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is shown in a trailer now. Bowser ends up eating the Mario Brother heros and start to affect him from the inside, as bowser does his own thing on the outside. Bowser drinks water and the brothers are flooded. Bowser becomes a giant and attacks a castle with a ds turned to the side. The game is announced to be released in the U.S. and Europe this fall.

He says there is one more game, legendary, coming back to Nintendo in 2010. It's a brand new Golden Sun! A trailer shows on screen, with a fully 3D envirenment (still can't spell it) and 3D character models for in battle.

Cammie sneaks onto the stage un-announced. James Patterson's novel the Women's Murder Club is announced for October 17th for the DS and DSi. You play as three ladies trying to solve the mystery of a number of murders. Another game is announced for the DS, a realistic styled game where you play a cop. Third person over the shoulder, the game is C.O.P: The Recruit. Then another game pops up on screen.... and its dressing up and fashion. Who really cares? The game is Style Savvy.

They start talking about the DSi, and how it's already captured gamers. A trailer begins, showing gamers and their DSi systems. Then the stats. Sales are up to a million units since it's been released. She talks about one person's DSi will be totally unique. They show the movie maker game Flip Note Studio will be available this summer. They mention Maro Vs Donkey Kong, but with total user created levels that can be shared with other people. This game will be a download for DSi ware, coming out June 8th. WarioWare DIY is shown on screen, everything is being shown as being user created and user edited, from the games, messages, goal. They start talking about using the DSi camera and sharing it. It's announced you can automatically upload photo's from you DSi to facebook.

She starts talking about how players want professional games by professional designers too. She begins talking about Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and how it will be on the show floor. I think the conference just ended, as a trailer starts up.... Whoop, nevermind (I should have gathered, it's only been 50 minutes so far. That'd be a short conference if it ended now). Cammie's on stage agan, and announces the President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata. His english is getting better and faster actually. They start talking about how the game market growth is dwindling. They talk about needing to reach to people that decide they may want to play games but haven't yet. He says that in tsis group, there are 295 million people who currently play games, but 149 million people that aren't playing but might, between Europe, Japan and America. They talk about needing to appeal to them. He also talks about how games are getting more complex, which makes it harder to introduce new gamers. But, making them easier alienates the veterans. So there needs to be a way to involve both vets and newcomers.

He mentions a new way about talking about the games, and offers a sneak peak, using wii fit and brain ages as examples. He announces Wii Vitality Sensor, which will be able to detect your vitality stats, and also your body languages. He heads off stage after the presentation. Cammie comes back and starts talking about mario again, talking about the previous 3 mario games: The wii super mario brothers, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Mario and Luigi 3, and HOLY CRAP!!! Another full 3D Mario Title for the wii. This looks alot like galaxies actually it shows yoshi, new planets, people, flying ships.GIANT GOOMBA!!! It's Super Mario Galaxies 2.

Reggie is back on stage now. He mentions that he reads the blogs too, and he understands that players actually want more. He starts talking about third party games, that will be wii exclusive. From Sega, coming out in 3 weeks, The Conduit. A trailer starts up, with mankind in a war that they've already lost. It's hard to explain the game, it looks to be a first person shooter with puzzle elements. Reggie starts talking about Resident Evil: Dark Side Chronicals, and a trailer begins showing Leon Kenneddy and Jill Vallentine. It looks like it'll be another first person shooter title like Resident Evil Chronicals. The next game is Dead Space, which will be a rail shooter like Resident Evil Chronicals.

Reggie is on stage, talking about someone who has a great track record, and is working with Temp Ninja on somthing unique. Holy crap! A new Metroid game! It shows things being blown up in space. People on a space station. It shows Samus in a game that's switching between 3d and 2d gaming. It seems alot like Ninja Gaiden, but with that classic space shooting action. Wait, was that a Samus clone?? So far it's called Metroid: Other M, coming in 2010. Reggie says that this game will be unlike any other. It takes you further into the story of Metroid and will explain Samus Aran further. All I know is, I WANT THIS!!

The conference has ended. Definatly, this conference was much better than last year. Nintendo was still a bit weak, and I didn't see my pikmin game that I was hoping to see. I think that with what they have shown will be a good hook to keep the hardcore gamers going. It's just enough to let them keep an edge in software but I don't know if it'll be enough to satisfy the core market. We'll find out soon I guess once the gaming community starts giving out their opinion.

Cammie needs to die. A very slow and painful death at that. I did like the looks of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers and Golden Sun, but the heavy hitters had to Super Mario Galaxy 2 and METRIOD: THE OTHER M. Other than that Nintendo was just as bad, if not a teensy bit better that Ubisoft's conference. The new LoZ game is a major fail, as no one wants a THIRD cel-shaded game. WindWaker is my all time favorite LoZ game, but they've gone too far with Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

yeah i agree with ya, nintendo's e3 is too depressing. i'm happy that they have some more mature games coming out, but what is got me excited was the new galaxy game, and finally another metroid game that looks kick ass. i was hoping though it would of been in first person again. other than that the first half of their conference was a fail.
