Swine Flu (Influenza AH1N1) spreads like fire! In less than 2 or 3 weeks (maybe?), it has already affected 46 or more countries and has more than 13,000 cases around the world! Less than a hundred already died, and what's more fearful is that it's a new virus that it seems it will take time before scientists can find a vaccine against it. Will this epidemic be as dangerous as SARS? Or rather, will they be killing the pigs as they did a decade ago (I think) after finding out that the virus came from those innocent animals? (I actually watched the documentary on Nat Geo)

I'd say this is a bit of old news. I've heard from certain sources that the epidemic has officially stopped. Doesn't mean it's not spreading anymore, just means that it's not as serious as before.

HIV/AIDS is more important.

EDIT: Also it's being exaggerated.

Uh, it's exaggerated on purpose, guys. We can never be too careful when faced with something that's even slightly possible to become a big epidemic. It's not twitchy-eyed politicians, it's awareness for something that affects the whole of humanity.

Anyway, its "epidemic" status is basically being scrapped, and it is turning out to be weak and scarce enough to stop counting individual cases soon, if they haven't done so already. As of now, it's basically just another flu strain, and should be treated as typical influenza: treat it normally unless you think it's bad enough to get looked at.

But of course, it's still being watched carefully, and it could change, as viral situations often do.

If it was any real big threat, there would be no safety against it anyways. If a virus is really going to become the next big thing, we have no way to stop it, we will all be dead. (Or at least the weak people.)

...i don't think it's reaaaaaaly that serious!,.

it's just that,.it can easily be spread through sneezing and some physical contacts blah blah!,.

but well,.we just have to be really healthy,.

an i agree with the other post,.HIV is more important,.

people are having sex in early age and without protection. HIV's been already here for a couple of decades and yet,.still no cure for it!,.

urggggh!,.

by the way,.is a-h1n1's really from pigs?,.i thought they've mistaken,.that's why they changed the name from swine flu to a-h1n1!,.hehehe!,.♥

*yawn* I stopped carring about this weeks ago. Notice. over 10000 infected but less than 100 dead. Wow. such a big epidemic right. Yes, it speards fast. Yes, it's kinda serious but seriously. If it was dangerous, it would have killed way more than 100 people. Besides, we already have effectful medicine for it that works for the first 48 hours. So, people who are dead are either poor and have no money or just to damn lazy. Case closed.:\

I'm sorry I disagree ,Suigintou, I doubt with todays medecine any type of flu would be the cause of a massive epidemic. It would have to be something on par with like tha black plague. I think it was over-exagerated. I guess it's because I don't buy into this news shit. The news IS shit, and it is piles and piles of liberal garbage. Slightly possible of becoming a big epidemic? bullshit, that could never happen if like 4 people died world wide and only 100 cases OUT 6,000,000,000 people. Face it, it's the flock theory...one man says something and the whole country followes him like stupid blind sheep and supports the same idiotic theories. I hate being part of the majority, agreeing on something so bloody stupid as an n1h1 flu virus killing thousands.

Guess what? Seasonal flu spreads just as quick.

and does more harm. There have been more fatalities as a result of our rampant everyday flu than by this piggly wiggly one.
