Was just wondering if anyone had any advice in finding ppl with similar interest in my area. I'm not looking for a girlfriend or anything of the sort i dont mind if its guys or girls I'd just like to find some ppl around here that enjoy Anime and/or the whole Dark Genre of Anime/Cinematography.

I'm 20 and well it seems that no one around here Enjoys anime really lol. The other problem is well i tend to dislike most ppl. I'm not one to care much about looks but if the person is an Idiot/Stupid/Uneducated I will probably have a hard time conversing with him/her.

Anyways if any more information is needed please feel free to ask away.

where do you live and age really shouldn't matter. passion is not an age discriminator so if someone has a passion for the same things as you i would say youve found a friend

No i mean i don't care about the age that much maybe if its younger like 13 14 15 or so I might not get along with them just on a maturity level but i do know of some exceptions =) But like I've hung around with some older crowds and had an enjoyable time.

I'm From Canada Quebec.

well for starters, you could see if there are any anime or otaku(yes there are both types) conventions going on w/ in let's say 50miles of you, then you can go to them and see if you meet anyone that lives closer to you as they would probably be checking out the con's as well, and even if no one lives closer than the Con to you, well you've just found a large room full of potential friends, just find a booth that caters to an anime or manga you like, wait until someone else is at it too and attempt to strike up a conversation, or just start talking w/ the person running the booth, other ppl will inevitably join the conversation, sometimes even a random comment about something in the anime/manga will do, no matter if it's about a storyline element, plot progression, or a char, there are lots of ways, it's just about taking that chance

I'm not the best at engaging conversation either lol, I ususaly just listen cuz if i start to say stuff too much my friends call me a smart ass lol

then you'll be in good company at a convention, as for finding them, just go out on the web searching for conventions in Canada and maybe northern US, then narrow it down from there, and starting up a conversation isn't that hard, especially if you're talking w/ the booth attendant, you've already got a topic based on what anime or product he is overseeing, and ppl are likely to join into a conversation on their own if you start talking about the relative merits of a particular type of anime or compare it to others, oh and for god's sake, while ur at a convention, advertise us w/ anyone avg anime lover you meet, not to the anime reps or authors who might have a problem w/ us, or the booth attendants unless you can make sure they aren't going to screw us over either

not sure if you're in the toronto area, but it's a pretty big canadian convention. good news and bad news though. bad news, it's going on in like a week, good news! it's in a shitty spot that's so much of a pain in the ass to get to this year that I' not going to bother going, haha!
truth be told, I live in a metropolitan canadian city and I haven't a single friend that likes anime, they all think it's lame, save one but he only likes dragonball.
check out anime shops if there's any nearby, or maybe try introducing a few friends to it. I've had no luck, so I just keep that part of my life seperate from those who think I'm a nerd for having anime boxsets in my dvd collection.
where abouts in canada are you anyway? I thought I was the only canuck.

Spider > interesting question you have there... well, i guess everyone's pretty much covered the how-do-i-met-people thing, like going to conventions and all...
i noticed that you mentioned that you dislike most people, and that the maturity factor is a big thing for you. well, for one thing, perhaps you could try to overcome your "dislike" somewhat; personally i find that if you try to open up to others, not just on your interests per se, but as a person, you might find that people are not just as unintelligent as they might seem. in fact, more often than not i find that there is always something you can learn from others, be they little old ladies you meet on the bus, or a random person you meet at Starbucks.

also, you've mentioned that you prefer to listen since if you talk too much people call you a smart ass? it might be something to do with how you phrase things, and how you express yourself to others... of course if you drone on and on and on about what you know then they'll get bored and call you a smartass...but what if you involved them in the conversation more, and see what their opinions are on the topic? again, you might be surprised with what you can learn ;)

You point out a few good things, I love to meet new ppl and get to know them i guess its after a while once i get to know them better then i get a better idea of the kind of person they are. I put everyone on the same level weather ur a 10 year old kid the president or a war veteran your all the same in my book, theirs different ways or talking to diff ppl and such but in general were not so different. I actually dont talk very much because i'm never quite sure what to say, especially when i meet someone for the 1st time or try to introduce myself lol. The ppl that call me a smart ass are the small grp of ppl i sometimes hang out with, especially one guy, he likes to bullshit all the time and i correct him every time he tries to say something untrue (if i know he's BS'ing)... little fucker lol.

Thanks for the Help =)

You say that now but when he lures you to his beach house with promises of candy and power you'll be singing a different tune.

Always remember that the world is out to get you, anybody who sais they are your friends is really lying. They will betray you and stab you in the back at the slightest provocation....

The only sensible thing to do is lock yourself in your home and never ever ever leave.... Stay with us.... Where its safe..... one of us..... One of us.....
