I believe what people believe depends on what religion they have been brought up in, usually.

Both, it is religion and faith, and it's quite empty headed of you to not put up a "both" option.

The "God" aspect is a part of religion and a religion is a "belief" of that "God". True believers of a religion base their God on faith for that is how it is meant to be. However the question is awkwardly lopsided only because if no one had any faith there wouldnt be a religion. So to base one agaisnt the other is like asking which didn't come last, the egg or the chicken?

Exactly, it's stupidity not to have both.

That sums it all up. But since religion is based on faith, I'll choose the first choice.

If im getting this right you are talking about the god as in the Jewish, Christian/Catholic god. If this is the case then the question is easy because not all religions believe in the same god. If not then this post was a waste of time.

Yeah... you can't really have religion without faith, and not much you can do with faith without religion so a god wouldn't be based more off one than the other since they depend on each other and are in essence the same thing.

But this is not the "Egg or Chicken theory who came first" it is that religion comes when two things happen. Example 1:when something so amazing happens people start to rethink there way the world works. (if you laugh at this next example i will find you and kick your ***)According to my mom, some old powers that tried to take over would actually target some religions, to convert people by taking religious occasions and put there own thus is how we got Christmas.

That's exactly what I wanted to post but I thought this was a overused quote so I didn't! But obviously both, will there be a religion without faith? Or faith without a religion that introduced the god(s).

...i personally think that religion's not really necessarry!,.
what counts for me is faith and of course doing what God says!,.
coz you can't keep on saying "i believe in God" then keeps on killing,.keeps on doing things that God doesn't like!,.
you know what guys,.there are some religions that (muslims are very much exempted to it) that,.do such things,.like saying,.were the best religion,.you can be save in here!m,but then,.keeps on doing things that God doesn't like,.and they're like telling their followers that God said this stuff coz its writen in the bible though it's not!,.
i have read this thing in the biblie though i dont think ihave the xact words!,.and i forgit what chapter or verse,.but it says "if a blind's being guided by another blind,.they will both fall in the cliff"!,.
so,.i guess you guys understand my point!,.♥

Well I agree with what people are saying here. The question is quite contradictory... Religion is actually based on faith.
No matter the evidence we get, we need to have faith to believe in such a concept as God. So, I say we first need faith to believe that God exists. Then comes religion where people with same opinions about God gather...

There is no way to have one with out the other the co-exist and can not survive with out the other.

well god is based on faith... religion is just a bunch of people with the same faith... faith is whats important... but when you have alot of people with that same faith... then you have a religion...

Well because talking about anime is fun and all but it gets pretty boring after a while! Having a discussion about God though is kind of thrilling!!!

Twist: Is religion based on God or faith?
Now that is a more interesting question! I will give a quick answer to this one cause I really need to be going to sleep...
I believe most religions are based on faith and what people come to think of as God. I am sure that if we were to experience God then He wouldn't be like anything we imagined. I also do not believe that there is any religion that is completely right about God and how He really is; of course though there are some that are closer than others.

its not really a twist... its just another thoughtless question... religion is based of faith... faith is based on god... therefore religion is based on BOTH faith and god... there is no OR... its AND... its not one or the other, cuz they go hand in hand.
god is not based on faith OR religion... its based on BOTH faith AND religion... because faith creates the religion.
religion is not based on faith OR god... its based on BOTH faith AND god... because faith is based on god.

Well I took the question differently:
Is religion based on God or is it based on what humans perceive as God?

Well I took the question differently:
Is religion based on God or is it based on what humans perceive as God?
thats the same thing... thats not even the question, is that ur own question? God is what we humans percieve as God... again ur asking a question with OR when both things go hand in hand...
how can you possibly 'take' the question differently...
how is 'is god based on faith or religion?' or the twist 'is religion based on god or faith?' missinterpretted as 'is religion based on god or is it based on what humans perceive as god?'... that makes no sense.

Fine I will put it even simpler... is God as we picture him to be or not? Is that understandable enough? This question is not the same with the previous question.

Can chose another option from these two i have to go Faith but truly God is what you want him to be basing it off a religion is not doing the idea of what God is justice. IF there is a God, which i do believe there is, he would want you to find him on your own terms and not just a respitting and reimaging of himself to please the masses. I thnk that you have to search for God whether it is within you or outward what ever natural. SO umm i am totally spacing lately... these two options right, i think that while this is a intellectual idea that God is neither and both. I despise the religion idea but i cannot knock it if people say they have found God in a religion and teh faith idea is a genuine thought but faith and Religion intermingle. I think that to say you found God in a Religion is to say you have faith but to have Faith in a God is a foundation for a religion, that and tax exempt status. That's right im part of Blaintology help us beat the super best friends.
