Pokemon: Stupid or not?

I think Pokemon is stupid, they have been going on for like ever, they need to give up. What do you guys think?

Likewise i think pokemon is just plain too stupid now. It was good during its first season, for me. But the longer it goes, the more useless and repetitive it becomes, making it a shitload full of crap.

Nah, I don't think it's stupid. If going on forever and not giving up is a reason for being stupid, then so is Inuyasha, which you obviously enjoy.

If you can come up with a good reason for hating a stable video game series like Pokemon, then go ahead.

Pokemon is repetitive and its core concept has never changed through the series. But can't the same be said for Zelda? Metroid? And don't even get me started on Final Fantasy.

If you don't like the simple concept of catching and training monsters for battle, then that's fine. But if you like that concept, there's little reason to not enjoy the video games...at least when it comes to the main series. I fully admit that it does get tiring, and that some parts of the newer games are a bit too complicated and some of the new Pokemon are pretty goddamn stupid-looking. But the concept behind the series is still a great one, and the games are still at least moderately enjoyable, if you take them for what they are: RPGs.

But uh...if you're talking about the anime...then I dunno. I never liked it anyway so I have hardly watched any of it. I guess it could certainly be taken off the air and nothing of value would truly be lost.

Answer: The first 6 games (Assuming you count Green and Blue as the same), not stupid. The anime, the answer is no if you've never seen an anime that's fought with somthing other than a fist or a monster that becomes energy. Result? You'll get your head slammed into a locker for admitting you don't think it's stupid.

There is only one plot, if you consider the fact that all the plots are virtually the same.

1.) Start out in a small town.
2.) Obtain Pokemon and Pokedex from local professor.
3.) Travel around the land catching Pokemon and training them for battle.
4.) Fight trainers, including your rival. Also fight a criminal organization of some sort.
5.) Fight gym leaders, get badges, go to the Elite 4, kick their asses.

Same thing every time.

Uh, but that's not part of the "plot," so to speak.

And honestly, what the hell does keeping the same plot matter? You like Final Fantasy...a series that is notorious for using a different plot each time even though the titles sound like sequels.

Pokemon used to be ok I still have a few cards left but when they changed the voice of ash it sucked. They overdid the whole series and it should have ended it a long time ago.The odd thing is that some kids are still into it.

i don't think pokemon is stupid.. pokemon is one of my fav anime.
when i was a Little i was so addicted to it. and my little brother too..
he even told me to buy him a new pokemon game for his DS gameboy.
and i agree to you mike.. because mostly of the kids are still into it.
they Love pokemon series. for them pokemon is the best. Lol

pokemon the game/anime is not stupid to me. The game is always fun and the anime (though getting a little suckier every time a new series comes out) is still somewhat enjoyable.

I still enjoy the games a lot, although i don't really like any of the fourth generation pokemon. I think they gave some better looking pokemon some shitty looking not needed evolutions, but thats just me. I still watch the movies, though, because it still clings to my more childlike self.

I still like Pokemon and the games the series is repetitive but it's still good although i must say i do miss the songs they used to play at the end of the show i think it was called the pokejukebox or something like that but i really liked those songs and now they dont have them and i agree with whoever said when they changed the voices it made me mad at first too but then i got used to it so i dont really care now. So all in all i really like the show and want it to continue.

The show's okay for kids, but more mature people are going to find it stupid. The manga was pretty good, and the games were excellent until they started making stupid.

How about this: They make one more RPG. Totally three-dimensional next gen graphics. Make all the "regions" available to us. Make the pokemon be able to fatally wound and be fatally wounded. The first scene shows a pikachu shocking a child into spasms and killing him. I would buy it.

I guess we need to have variations in anime. anime for kids. anime for teens. anime for adults. and of course......anime for perverts.

so my view is:

I did like pokemon. I lost interest when the graphics started to look idiotic compared to Gundam SEED or something. There poped-up new versions of games. and I got pissed with the difference games where-in you need to trade. I was kidna like a purist wanting all my pokemon caught on pokeballs(yes I did that to the legendary birds) and the owner flashing my name. I tried it on lugia and mewtwo. lastly I think my gameboy broke down so I stopped playing and didn't care.

The manga sucks though. I find their lack of naming disturbing. what the hell is wrong with them? names like Red, Blue, Green, Silver, Gold, Crystal, etc. etc. I hated that part.

It is kinda stupid to get it going to what like 11 I suppose it is now. I'm not turning to a poketurd. I suggest pokeporn maggots. get used to it.

Pokemon is great. I always enjoy playing it, the game does get dull at some point, but at least the pokemons are improving.

So I think it's a little bit stupid, but I love it anyway.

I wouldn't say stupid, but it should end. After having the same plot line for a bunch of different trainers it needs to stop. But then again little kids love it, and some people still enjoy it so I guess there are a lot of people who don't think it's stupid. Do I? Yeah pretty much, I still enjoy the first few games though.

well it all has to do with age, its not stupid for kids, and that is what the show targets, kids. so to us of course its stupid, but its only because were older. remember whwn your a kid graphics dont matter in a game.

I still love Pokemon. Ever since it came out in '96. And the games are awesome. Pokemon lead the way for games that allows you to capture and breed monsters. (Dragon Warrior Monsters series)
And the anime, yes it has gotten stale, but so what? I dont care. *mmm, Dawn ;D* But, the first season was by far THE BEST.

Pokemon was good at first but I think they went overboard when they brought in the 4th generation. Many of the fourth generation pokemon are rather similar to the other pokemon. There are very few ideas left for original pokemon. They should have just stopped with the 3rd generation and make spin-offs.

But, the series is a different thing..it is pissing me off!the first 2-3 series was ok..i even it on tape..but it should have stopped there!Why the fuck isn't Ash aging?he is like 19 years old and still 4' 11" :S

As a child's show, it was rather practical early on. At this point, it is increasingly redundant. An earlier point mentioned the newer generation has too many similarities to previous ones, and I agree. The ideas that made it good were worn out early on. I wouldn't call it stupid, just geting increasinly worn out.
