ok so I want to go to Japan, any options? Cheapest? I'm looking for about a month stay. How much, I know tickets are around 1200ish, is $4000 enough for a month? If not I can apply for a scholorship and stay for a year...I might get accepted! I'm looking in around a year to go. I am 16 almost 17 I have a GPA of 4.15, I might have a chance at a scholorship! Rare I know.....I am not going because of my love of anime, mostly scenery, learning language and making friends.

I wish I could waste $4000...sigh.
and if you're purpose for visiting is pleasure then I think you should be able to manage on that $5500 of yours.

Damn you all, I want to go to Japan too, but my high school doesn't do any kind of trips to any country (I wish they did though), and I have no money to spend on going there, damn.

I think to be safe you should figure out prices, then figure out the conversion rates between the dollar and yen, do the math, and carry at least $300 more than what you calculate to deal with the change in value from one to the other.

You should pay more attention about the changing value of money if you're going away that long.

Believe it or not you would need at least $5000 to enjoy your self for a week in Japan not including costs of Airline Tickets. Before you go yes the scholarship would help pay for your school but you would also need to consider talking with someone over there about getting a part time job wile you stay over there to help pay for room and board. Know what I mean.

Actually 5000 is enough for a month. Yes a scholorship would be nice and a parents trust, my dad trusts me, he just hopes I don't screw any girl there. Geez... I never did more then kiss a girl on UK anyway.. And it would look impressive if your resume said 1 year in school in Japan.
