This comes thanks to GDC 2009, which is currently in progress. This is a new system that would allow you to download games and play them on your PC. What's that you say? What kind of games? How about FREAKING CRYSIS?!?! AND RUN THE GAME at it's top settings, no problem, no hitches?!

This service is promising to allow all kinds of games we can get normally for a console and offer them for download, and run at the best settings, independant of the hardware you are using (meaning a laptop from 6 years ago will work just as well as the best computer you can get from Alien Ware). The only thing that matters is having a capable internet service, and the faster your internet the better it runs.

It's capable of outputting the video onto a t.v. and will allow you to use keyboards, controllers, whatever your imput. It's just barely larger than several boxes of pens stacked on each other. And it will be suspected to be incredibally affordable. Since everything is online, it's impossible to pirate the games.

Now, this isn't everything to it (See the link for parts on demos and video recording), and there will be a subscription service, but just imagine if this thing pans out. Would you pay for this contraption? Would you play all of your games with this system? Is this really going to be the inevitable future of gaming?

I just had an orgasm reading that. That is fucking awesome. It would be incredible if that was affordable. This means that my PC will have the ultimate orgasm. It also looks like just about any game you can download can be played. AWESOME!!!

Epic thread Quiet, I'm giving you +rep for this.

Incase anyone is interested, this is an idea of how the interface has been set up so far.

So far it looks pretty impressive, and you'll notice a few companies have already hopped on, including Montreal Studios, 2K Sports, EA Games, Atari, Edios, and Ubisoft Games. If you take a look at pictures for the system, there's a 360 style controller that goes along with the system.

So far it seems that there will only be the PC versions of games will be listed, but since you can use keyboard, mouse, combo, or controller, it won't be an urgent problem.

I had another orgasm. That thing looks wicked. If I wasn't convinced before, seeing Edios and Ubisoft sign on onto this thing just served as a hard nudge in that general direction.

I'll hold my opinion on this till the final product is actually revealed. It sounds and looks like a great idea, but I hold my reservations about how well it will play through an online service on a normal, non-super fast internet connection.

Here is a list of potential downsides for this system. They do make alot of sense. Do you think these will be valid concerns though?

You people scare me. The biggest problem with OnLive is that we don't actually own the games we buy anymore. There is no physical disk. If Online goes down, or if we want to jump to a place without the internet services it requires, we don't get those games anymore. We are losing the freedom that we as consumers require. OnLive is leasing, not selling, games to us. I want to own my games, thankyouverymuch.
