This comes thanks to GDC 2009, which is currently in progress. This is a new system that would allow you to download games and play them on your PC. What's that you say? What kind of games? How about FREAKING CRYSIS?!?! AND RUN THE GAME at it's top settings, no problem, no hitches?!
This service is promising to allow all kinds of games we can get normally for a console and offer them for download, and run at the best settings, independant of the hardware you are using (meaning a laptop from 6 years ago will work just as well as the best computer you can get from Alien Ware). The only thing that matters is having a capable internet service, and the faster your internet the better it runs.
It's capable of outputting the video onto a t.v. and will allow you to use keyboards, controllers, whatever your imput. It's just barely larger than several boxes of pens stacked on each other. And it will be suspected to be incredibally affordable. Since everything is online, it's impossible to pirate the games.
Now, this isn't everything to it (See the link for parts on demos and video recording), and there will be a subscription service, but just imagine if this thing pans out. Would you pay for this contraption? Would you play all of your games with this system? Is this really going to be the inevitable future of gaming?
