New anime character voices is, that a bad thing?

I've recently gone back and looked at a couple of my fav old/ish animes from when i was young. ( One Piece and Pokemon ). While i was watching a couple of the new episodes though, i heard the characters voices and they just weren't the ones i know. They had more high pitched voices for the main characters so that they sounded like girls and the other character's were the exact opposite of how they sounded. I'm kinda upset that they went and changed the voices without really giving any heads-up about it. If you know any other animes that are changing the voices of how their characters then comment and also tell me if it is a good or bad thing that this is happening. :weep:

I agree, it's those voices that defines the characters and when they change it sounds horrible :(
