When are you officially a zombie?

There's a post in another thread by soulten that got me to thinking. when would somebody officially be declared a zombie?
"If you are considered dead for longer than a day you are probably dead, come back to life miraculously after that you are a zombie, be it you are back to your old conciseness or not. You are still a re-animated corpse i.e. ZOMBIE!"

I got to thinking, these days, medical phenomena like bringing people back to life isn't all to uncommon. There have been numerous accounts of bringing people back from death's door. It begs the question, what are the modern day circumstances of being classified a zombie? Do you need to be dead for a certain period of time? Are you required to be buried so that you can bust your hand out of the soil beneath which you are buried (a sort of zombie initiation, you could say)? Perhaps CPR is nothing more than a zombie creating procedure, designed by zombies to create more zombies? There could be more zombies out there than anyone could've imagined, and if they look and act just like us, then there's some serious trouble.

Well I think that ''zombie'' is more a walking body animate by....virus or some bugs.Someone who is getting back to life isn't really a zombie because. They are alive.Being buried dosn't change anything (exception if they some nuke put high radiation on the ground and somehow manage to bring dead to life... who know...They thought so many way of making the zombie... And if they act like us... it's okay at least they are not infected and don't try to EAT YOU ! and spread the infection ...

I do believe classifying zombies as merely being brought back from the dead is erroneous. In order for them to be zombies, they need to have no brain functions working, their nervous system dropped down to a rudimentary level, just advanced enough to control basic motor functioning. They simply act on the instinct to kill, and their bodies are continuing to decompose, eventually rendering them into nothing.

So one that comes back from death with their brains intact would not be a zombie by this definition.

Zombe can be either a corpse brough back to life, a person being controlled by a parasote or a plant like the one that infects bugs and can controll them.
Or also if Both of the above are convined and a corpse is taken host to a parasite that can controll it.
It can also be someone who has watched too much Tv, or someone who is affected by a large amount of radiation and has lost mos of his/her "humanity".
Well, at least that's what i think they are.

I can agree on the motor skills and cognitive functions, but I might point out that being dead for too long before being resuscitated can cause brain damage and certain impairments. Granted the taste for human flesh isn't there, and the rotting flesh is unapparent, but still. Perhaps a combination of being brought back along with a hint of rabies and leprosy would be more convincing...

how i see it as, is that if you are dead for more than a few hours, then your officially considered dead. If some how you come back to life, you are then considered a zombie, whether you are hungery for brains or not...

good call. say you were stuck in a corner with a dog and you were surrounded by the walking undead, if you were to throw the dog at them would they eat it's brains or would they brush off the dog launcher attack and steady their limped pace toward you? granted you see zombie dogs, but never a zombie feeding off a dog. and why do they only bite certain folk and turn them into zombies and then completely tear other folk limb from limb and devour the whole kit and kaboodle?
