Rock all the way.
As for there being another thread, I couldn't find one. The best I could find was rock Vs Rap.

Rock. However, there is some pop that I love the hell out of, particularly the best of the 60s pop scene with The Beatles, The Beach Boys, early work by The Who, The Yardbirds, The Mamas and the Papas, etc.

Um, suig? All of those are rock bands. In fact, only the Beatles and The Mamas and the Papas are listed as having done pop music, but they are more well labeled for rock.

Um, Quiet? All of those were also pop bands. Believe it or not, you can list more than one genre per song/album/band, and if you actually listened to the music, you'd know what I was talking about.
Yes, The Beatles were a rock band. But they were also a pop band.
Yes, The Mamas and the Papas were a folk rock band, but primarily a pop band.
Yes, The Yardbirds were rock and rhythm and blues, but the fact of the matter is that they always played some pop music.
Yes, The Who in their prime were more of a straight rock band, but did you ever think to consider that they didn't start out that way? Because they didn't. They started as a pop-rock act.
And if you actually think that The Beach Boys were never a pop band, you haven't listened to much of their music. "Surf rock" is only one of their labels. Have you ever even listened to their Pet Sounds album? I doubt it.
I know what I'm talking about, Quiet.

The first time in months that Wikipedia has lied to me then.
I'll always refer to them as rock bands though.
Back to the topic..... Rock and Roll has Jimmi ****ing Hendrix!! How can anyone say pop tops that?
In my opinion, rock all the way! I do listen to pop/rock and pop/punk however, rock hold precedence over pop in my eyes. AC/DC, Jimmy Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin just to name a few; The list of legendary artists goes on for rock.

It's Jimi, people. Not Jimmi or Jimmy. He's not exactly in my list of favorites considering the disappointing stuff with The Band of Gypsys and only two truly great albums with The Experience, but oh well...
But regardless, totally with you on Led Zep, Sky.

Oh come on now, that's a really unfair portrayal of pop. You could at least mention the four Liverpool boys. Pop in the 60s was usually better than rock in the 60s, after all.
And btw David Gilmour can't run Pink Floyd to save his life. :D

It depends on what Pop and Rock groups you are comparing. And Gilmour was still a fantastic guitarist whether or not he could hold Floyd together or not. That's all that matters.

No, that's not all that matters. You can't only look at the guy's positive sides when worshipping him. You should at least admit that he can't run the band for shit, nor can he write a good song without Waters around, clearly. Even "Learning to Fly" sounds like a different band covering Pink Floyd, and not all that well.

Hard to compare between a genre with songs about pebbles and stones (rock), and a genre with songs about fizzy drinks (pop) isn't it?
