You may not have noticed, but comic book movies are getting pretty common. Superman was probably the first to have his own movie, then Batman. We had 3 Spiderman movies, 3 X-Men movies, 2 Hulk movies, 2 new Batman movies, Iron Man and a sequal coming up, and past that we have another dozen movies coming up in the next 3 years.

And of course with comic book movies, you have comic book movie games. But we also had comic book games long since, for example the Avengers, Spiderman Meets the X-Men, Arcade Madness (no idea if that's the actual title) and many more.

What's your opinion on comic book games? Love them, hate them, ignore them? Should developers make games based off of the comic and not off the movies?

I remember have played Spiderman meet the X-men when i was young, i did really enjoyed them, i have also play Marvel Nemesis wich i also enjoyed.

Pretty much only those done on the movies i don't like, like iron man or the spiderman one. The last one i played and enjoyed was Marvel ultimate alliance, it a good game in my opinion, i hope the sequel will be even better.

I can't recall all the comic based games I've played. Silver Surfer, X-men, Batman, and lots more. Most of them I did not like. Horrid game play, bad story line.....

I used to play a lot of comic games when I was a kid, and I enjoyed them beyond anything. Granted I just wanted to kick butt as my favorite super hero, so I never paid much attention to the story and such. They were pretty on that end, but the playability was there. I can say that I like games based directly from the comics themselves, even if the story and such is out of bounds from the norm, but with some of these games that come out that are based off a movie that's based off a comic, they seem like a cheap excuse to cash in on merchandising sales.

The whole comic movie game franchise seems to be a big let down, spider man the movie game, hulk, x-men etc they seem to be churned out by the boat load and seem cheap and tacky with no good gameplay,

Talking about comic book games in whole i thought the darkness was good, it felt like the comic watchng the cutscenes and all, made me laugh but cant explain why as it's rated 18 and younger viewers might be reading this post.

Marvel vs capcom 2 was an amazing comic book to game concept

Im a big fan of hellboy and the movies but i havent played the game yet bit concerned its
going to go the way of other comic -movie- games,
If anyone has it or played it, please let me know how it plays

There's also 2 other Spiderman movies coming out, another X-men one, and a Thor.

I suppose the only comic book game I ever played was Catwoman for the GC. It was pretty stupid, and some of the things you had to do were so hard to do you couldn't progress through the level.

I think that comic book games are pretty much a big fat fail because they try to hard to make the game "fun" and as "kool" as the movie as possible.

I acually hate them.
And I'm a HUGE comic book fan.
Right now I'm reading 'The Uncanny X-Men' from the 80's.
But the games, I literally dispize (sp?) them.

It's not such a terrible thing to do, really. From what I've seen, developers making a game from a comic book are generally more dedicated than those making something after a movie. (Considering those are a dime a dozen, there's a lot of source evidence to make it obvious that more often than not, movies from video games just aren't so hot.)

But then again, there's the factor that there's so few video games made from comic books out there. (and I mean present day material). So, honestly, I can't really make a decision just because of the small portion that comic book games really make. But still, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say power to them.
