I don't know if I "love" indie and folk, but I enjoy them anyway.

When it comes to folk, I mostly only listen to folk-rock rather than plain old folk...artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Donovan, Paul Simon, etc. Oh, and a special nod to Blackmore's Night, the only "medieval folk-rock" band I listen to.

As for indie, the problem with that is that "indie" isn't very descriptive as a genre, considering it mostly just refers to bands that are/were signed to independent labels or aren't signed at all. Regardless, indie bands that I like include:

Pinback
Neutral Milk Hotel
of Montreal
The Apples in Stereo
The Olivia Tremor Control
Kasabian
The Black Keys
The Decemberists
An Endless Sporadic
The Flaming Lips
Rock n Roll Soldiers
Wintersleep

Well, from what I understand, Indie is mainly just a term used to describe music that's different. In that case, yes, I love indie.

As for folk, Finnish folk or Finnish folk-metal is where it's at!

No, not really. It requires being signed to an independent label or no label at all. That's why it's called "indie."

I completely forgot to mention Iron & Wine...completely beautiful indie folk work. Certain songs like "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" are just beautiful enough to make me sigh every time. Iron & Wine is definitely one of the best artists to come out of both indie and folk in a loooong time.

Thank you for clearing that up.

In that case, still yes. My favorite non-label band would be Climhazzard. Yes, they named their band after the Limit Break.
