Sword Axe Spear or Hammer

What is your ultimate fighting weopen in hand to hand mine is an Axe

Hammer= Too slow
Axe= Too slow as well
Spear= It can only do a fatal wound with the tip, and a direct thrust fails a lot.
Swors= A regular sword is fast, deadly any way you use it, and there are many kinds of swords to adjust to one's abilities.
Do i need to say more?

Good point, at any rate, we both agree the spear sucks, hammer and axe are for big people, which i'm not, i'm more of a middle size athletic guy, thus a katana sword would be best fit for me, also keep in mind the Halberds, katanas, double swords, and such that can easly beat Axes and hammer, which is why i pick swords to be the superior weapon!
And what you said about a loser with a sword is still a loser, i believe that's the case with any weapon.

I prefer swords! Big guys might prefer axes or hammers but there are also gigantic swords too!
Well, spears don't suck though. If you are going one on one they might not be that useful but imagine an army with each soldier holding a 6 meters long spear. All the cavalry would go bye bye and foot soldiers wouldn't stand much chance too!

And as "swords" is really generic, it could go from a katana to a western-style or double-edged sword [wich are bigger and won't break that easily-- anyways I don't like them that much xD]

Sword...longer reach then an axe or a hammer. You can also slice better then with a spear. I would also love to unsheath it in a cool manner. But an axe would be cool also.

I happen to be big enough to use the hammer or axe, (6'4'' and 240lbs- I one up okamisama sizewise, but I think he'd still knock me into next week as I have little to none unarmed combat training.) but I'd rather a claymore- 4.5 feet of pain.

k. Let's put it this way,

Hammer= Crushing blow. bone shattering, punches armor in. For the people who like to torture.

Axe= Great the strong. Tends to be slow so only for hardy people.

Spear= Flexible, need to have a quick withdraw in your arms and fast on your feet. For the people who prfer some range. Defense is best with this.

Sword=Slice n Dice. For people who like things done fast.

In the end, it's what you like that makes it your fav.

Personally, I think a spear would be easiest and most defensive to use, because it can be used as both an impaling weapon and a pole weapon.
