The night was ending, and yet, something magical was taking place. The magic that was once sealed and bound for an eternity is breaking loose among the suburbs of Missouri. Mika Kilts is not a normal young adult. Many people in the small town of Alto, Missouri believe that she is a freak and an outcast. Mika does not have any friends because the students at the school are too scared of her or maybe because they do not want to have anything to deal with her. Her parents, Susan and Mike are wonderful people who took Mika in when she was no more than a baby wrapped in a blanket on their doorstep. Tonight was the night of her 16th birthday, and it would change her life forever, as she gained the powers to kill people from the third dimension.

Chapter I

Mika Kilts woke up at midnight hearing strange voices coming from deep within the house. Yet as she searched, there was no one in sight. “Maybe I am just hearing things,” she said to herself as Mika went back to bed. Another ten minutes went by and she woke up again, this time more alert than before. “Go away,” she screamed. Haya, her older sister, awoke and looked at her sister with a puzzled look on her face. “Who are you talking to Mika,” said Haya, “the spirits perhaps,” as she laughed in amazement. A pillow darted for her head, but luckily, Haya ducked as it missed her head by several inches. “Do you hear that,” said Mika to her older sister. They both listened silently as they both heard nothing but the sound of crickets chirping outside their bedroom window. “Go to sleep,” said Haya as she yawned and pulled the covers over her head. Thoughts in Mika’s mind seemed to be unbearable as she could not sleep, so she went to the kitchen to get a drink of milk. A shape of a head appeared out of nowhere and before Mika could scream a roundhouse kick to the face and then to the stomach made the person grovel to the ground.
The light made her eyes hazy for a moment as she adjusted to the change in the room. “Jiro, you idiot,” she said in a whisper, trying not to wake up their parents. “Do not ever do that to me again, unless if you want me to kick you in a fatal area.” Jiro’s grey eyes that matched his twin glittered in the light, as he looked at Mika with amazement. “Do I look like an idiot,” he rebuked with sarcasm. A light hit in the side made him smile at Mika for the more. “Go to bed Mika, I will see you in the morning,” as he gave her his best sincere smile. When Jiro was not looking, a small smirk appeared on her face as she went to her room to go to bed. Thoughts of her brother made her smile as if she was in love, but it is impossible to love your siblings more than family. Wrapping the covers over her body, the warmth gave comfort which made Mika feel as if the covers surrounding her could protect her from the world. As the voice of her favorite singer came on the radio, she drifted into a dreamless sleep where nothing but goblins, witches, wizards, and other creatures lived in her mind. Then the hum silence surrounded the room once more as Mika and her sister Haya were in a deep slumber, and nothing but the darkness tapped on the window.
