Quick question for you...What in the world is that anime character's name that is in the top left corner of the homepage screen of this site? The one with the orange hair and eyeliner...

Im so excited on embarking on this new anime journey. THERE ARE SO MANY THOUGH! :o.o: When younger I watched Sailor Moon. So far (on this site) I have watched Lovely Complex up through chap 19, all of Avatar the Last Airbender (which I find, an awesomely cute and funny show, watched on tv) and around 5 chaps of Chobits. Hmm, Im also trying to remember the name of this anime I use to watch on the channel G4, about these few characters flying around on these plane things, doing races. I am haunted everyday that I forgot the name, because I was infatuated with that show. Well, not haunted, just it really sucks. lol

Anyway, for me to really become a legit fan though, what anime do I absolutely, without a doubt, HAVE to watch? Its the essential anime for all fans that a person must watch to be taken seriously as a fan?

I do have preferences though... I love romance anime. Anything romance. I would prefer something serious, but not the doom and gloom type stuff, you know. Well, I guess it could be doom and gloom, but I have to be sucked in right away with the character development and plot.

and these others as well: Naruto (has lots of fillers but good), Bleach (same as Naruto), Air Gear, Eureka Seven, Gundam Series (there are a lot), Vampire Knight.... Thats it for now. there are a lot so just keep on looking for stuff you like

Well, yeah, but those are just recommendations of the current top series so he/she can watch them to be up to date with what everyone is talking about, and they're liked by most people, so it helps to pick what to watch.

If you need any recommonations, I got a few, 94 to be exact, yes I keep a list. For your romance, a short one is Hanaukyo Maid La Verite is a good one. It's more ecchi than romance and has some nude scenes but it's a good one. Also it's a remake of the original Hanaukyo Maid Tia

there arent any specific animes that make you a "fan" everyone babbles on and on about their favs but dont worry. your a fan when you consider yourself one. so just sit back, watch some anime, and enjoy the site. *edit* nevermind i didnt know unknown touched on that subject. woops* but youll catch on the the anime jargon the more you hang around. and youll also begin to weed out what people are like. everyone has a very distinct personality. mine mostly comes out on the CB (chatbox)

First animes I watched were Naruto (highly UNreccomended) bleach, inuyasha (once again DON'T WATCH IT ITS CRAP) Full Meteal Alchemist, Fate Stay Night, G Gundam, Death Note, Code Geass, Hellsing, Vampire Knight, Vampire Knight Guilty and such... Animes I watch now are Chrono Crusade, Dragonaut (meh it was okay not great) .Hack/Sign, and Bleach (this serries is long, but its still pretty damn good).

i am with unknown on the subject i never followed poularity in anime i watched and read what i liked like there are many that would disagree with me on quite a few anime that i have watched but guess what i don't care yeah take some suggestions from everyone look through them till you find one you like but don't fall into the fad of anime to be populare enjoy it for what it is a book with a visual perspective not everyone will ead the same book but if it is a good one it does have honerable mention and if the intro story intreste you keep reading/watching it otherwise move on to another that might
