I was looking for something else entirely and happened to stumble across this article, did anyone else know they were making an Akira live action adapatation? and to boot, DiCaprio is going to be in it.....seems like they want to make it a two part film as well, just thought it was odd and wanted to see what everyone else's reaction on this was, here's the link the article I read, although I assume there is a lot more info out there http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=3&id=48910&type=0

you've never heard of Akira? I'm in shock, that is one of the gateway anime's that get most ppl into this life, seriously, you need to march yourself over to the movie section, sit back, and enjoy, and quickly

Akira! Oh how I love that movie. I'm not so sure how good this one will be, though. I'm not a big fan of anime turning into live action movies. However, I though Deathnote was really good. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
The idea seems so bizarre yet, oddly enough, I'll admit that I'm rather excited to see the end product. Nice find, Corwin. Makes me wonder if Leo's a fan of anime at all.

Honestly Jack I've wondered exactly how many of these actors and actresses are into games and comic books and anime like they claim to be, is it just an act? I mean think of the stigma attached to adults playing video games and reading comics much less watching anime over the last few years, yes that stigma has lessened, but everytime they interview one of these ppl about a role they are going to play they suddenly act like they've been playing this game for years or reading that comic book since it's inception to current, yet in previous interviews asking their hobbies and interests, no mention whatsoever is made of these things...makes you wonder

a live adaptation wont work i think. Akira was a master piece and to make it real is gonna to take some of that shine off it. i mean using american actors most of who have never the the seen movie until the script came to their doorstep is not a good idea. but thats my opinion.
and on a side note wernt they gonna make a dbz one awhile ago? i heard the rumors but i dont know if it happened or not. if i remember correctly jakie chan was gonna be goku(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH)

actually there is a Dragonball live action movie already, has been around for years, I will offer this piece of advice concerning it, don't look for it, don't ever go looking for it, don't watch it if someone asks if you want to, it sucked so hard it made me cry, more so b/c my brother actually chose to pay money to get it on dvd

from what i read in the artical... i dont like the idea at all. changing the script that much from Tokyo to "New Manhattan" is a terrible idea. they are basicly turning a great story and turning it into $h*%!!
