sorry if there is already another thread like this. i tried looking and nothing came up.
but anyways, a couple of weeks ago, i saw this trailer of the book Ink Heart turning into a movie and i thought i was pretty cool. so for all of those Ink Heart fans out there (if there is any, but i'm pretty sure there is) check out their official website if you haven't already.

Meh. First glance I could tell what was just an effect. It looks like a cross between Sweeny Todd, Narnia, and Harry Potter, plus the lead reminds me of the lead in The Mummy series.

^Agreed.
I'll also add it just looks like another child's sci-fi movie that'll be a big hit for a little while, then everyone will go "meh..."

Never read the book, and when I first saw it I was thought it was another Mummy movie. But I like Brendon Fraser, so I may see it depending on reviews.

:oo:....well i agree with you all, but the books is really awesome, but yes to those that said they have the wrong people to play the parts, i agree. Brendon Fraser is great in the mummy movies, but in this one, it looked weird. to me anyways.

When I see movies derived from books ~ it just makes me want to read the book and not watch the movie. The movie is always like the grievously hideous bastard child of the book.
The only exceptions are the Harry Potter series and Lord of the Ring series ~ both are thoroughly entertaining.
I haven't read Ink Heart ~ but since seeing the preview I have been wanting to check it out.

when I first saw the preview for this a few weeks ago, I thought this looked good, and it's nice how many scifi/fantasy books are getting made into movies now, that and all the comic book heroes coming to life on the big screen, but then I went out to wikipedia and read what Inkheart and it's 2 sequels were about and I have to say I'm not looking forward to this movie anymore, the book sounds like it started off as a good idea for a childrens/young adult book, that halfway through decided to try and be darker with more mature subject matter, and somehow managed to not only fail, but get a trilogy completed and a movie deal signed. Yes I'll watch this, but I don't think I'll even bother watching it online when it comes out, I'll wait until it shows on tv for free and there is nothing better on, like the weather channel.

The Shining, Blade Runner, Lord of the Rings, were all good, most of the Harry Potter series was as well, but personally I think book 5(Order of the Phoenix) wasn't translated well to the big screen, for starts they cut too much of it, and they tried for that whole gloomy atmosphere and didn't quite pull it off, although it did sort of make the movie look interesting, it wasn't quite right.

Okay ~ Sui ~ unlike you, being a suiclopedia, I don't have every successful movie~from~book readily available in the archive of my brain. The Shining was good, yes. I apologize :P.

That's because he's the same person. That out of the way, Ink heart is a wonderful book and I sincerely hope that the producers don't botch the making of the movie. I have read both Ink heart and Ink spell (can't find the third book in the series :crying:) and they are very good I would recommend them to anyone.

That would be Farid that falls in love with Maggie.

I tried the book once, didnt like it.
The trailer looks crappy.
And from what I've heard, the movie wasn't too good, either.
Imma go see it with some friends later on next week to see for myself.
