Have you heard of that Russia has turn off the gas in Europe because it had money issues with Ukrania? The gas price rose up and Ukrania said okey I will pay it, but they rose up their prices too what Russia needs to pay but the russians said that they won't pay. Then Ukrania said they will take away some gas what they need ergo Russia said they are stealing the gas and turned off the gas. So gas wasn't coming to Europe. Some places the houses were cold because there wasn't gas. If I'm right today it will turn out if they will turn it back or they won't send any gas to Europe. (France, German, Middle-Europe ect.. is facing big problems ' cuz of it, and my country too and the coldest days of the year are approaching too.)

Sounds like the Russians to me. Don't you just hate how much power they have?

Like history taught us, there is only one thing that can stop the Russians. Them selves. No one other can do that. I admire that.
But, in my country that means no school for another week! Its the ''cold'' season, and every body would just freeze on their way to school, get sick, and miss school even more than they do now.
Not that I mean its good to be out of gas for two months...that part sucks to no end...

Suune Serbia hasn't got gas at all we gave them though we haven't got much too. If they won't send any you won't freez on your way to school but in your house, to death.
Last night there were places in my country where -21 °C was the temperature. -5-7°C is enough for me, that's too cold for me.
@Lee: yeah I hate that they have so much power. My mother said then the UE should stop trading with them so they must send again the gas.
EDIT: And in my school we can't skip a week because it's cold we need to go to school if they close the school that means we need to have attend those classes and days in the summer break, as my graduation comes I don't want it to take long so I rather go school even in this weather.

I've heard about it several times in last few days... They are constantly talking about it on TV as well about the increasing riots in the Gaza (another topic).
I believe it's about the Gazprom, the largest Russian company, right? Also known as the Russian "milch cow." It's all about the money.
It's kinda ironic... Ukraine, the biggest European country is in a helpless situation; and together with Russia cannot come to the consensus. Russia is being obstinate. It's against the UE law to shut down over 100 gas-producing wells. Nevertheless, both Russia and Ukraine are being responsible for the gas crisis. It is unacceptable to see homes unheated, businesses closed and schools shut down in the middle of winter because of the commercial squabble. I really pity common people, little kids, elders and the animals.

One of the most serious problems nowadays is that people often get one-sided information on the problem and can't judge about it properly. When discussing these sort of problems you must carefully study the history of russian-ukrainian relationships. I believe that it's not just a commercial squabble, as far as i know naftogaz(ukrainian gas company) shut down the pipe and started to steal gas insted of transporting it to europe. After that it broke the agreement and demanded to lower the price(from 250$ to 150$ per sth, sth like that)for comparison europe pays 450$ for the same quantity.
And also, as far as i know, ukraine has a debt to pay out to russia. So everything is not as easy as you think. Ukraine isn't in a helpless situation. it's very hard to explain, so i advise you to read more and just look at the events from both sides.

Well, not quite the same if you read into it. But it's totally different from what spirit had said. Too be precise, i'm more on the russian side, and as the conflict goes on it's more likely that russia will be in a helpless situation
