Question on Ga-rei Zero

Ok I've read the manga for Ga-rei and as listed on the anime side Ga-rei Zero. Are they the same thing? I mean is the Anime version of this the second season. Don't get me wrong the anime is great, but after reading the manga first its nothing like it. Its throwing me for a loop

The anime wasn't exactly my cup of tea, because I can't stand the whole concept of school girls being able to dodge bullets, but whatever. It was alright. Although, I've not seen read the manga, but I do think it's a prequel because of the first + second last episode. I won't post spoilers.

I havn't read the whole manga yet but Ill keep on watching the anime to see what happens in the end. I just might have to finish reading the manga. :)
