leaving the rest behind only makes me wonder what the two are abandoning. Another part almost makes me feel that the person speaking (or thinking) is talking to someone who isn't smiling -> is troubled by the world or even by her/him. This poem raised more questions than answers, and that is a great thing for a poem to have. I'll be looking forward to your next one.
